Relates to the Rc10gt

ok today i went out to run my gt and it was great except for the fact that I can't get my tires on my rc10gt to stop spinning, I set the idle correctly al the way down to were if I hit the brakes it die, I know how to tune an engine already but kame with this prblem and dont knoe why, its a Os .18 and I just added put it togerther it ran great. todday I didnt even car that I could not stop the tires from spinning I ran it anyway and popped ton of wheelies.


Ok is there anything else that I should check to see if there is something wrong. I m missing the shims on the engine and also one of the bearing flanged bearring things, could this probrally be the problem su ut ran without it even though the car did not stop spiining its tires,

If this is not the problem ehat esle can I check to see if its the problem,

please help I want to fix this so I dont have to run the car all the tiime by holding the brakes alll time.

If you don't have both bearings in there, it's going to cause clutch drag, and improper gear mesh. I'd highly recommend you spend the $4 or so and get another one.

my rc10 didnt have springs on the clutch shoes so it would always try to pull a bit., i read somewere that your supposed to set the breaks to drag just a touch at idle to stop the wheel spin.

You need the bearing like HB said, and have the brakes drag like beason said is also correct. (well it is what I did and it worked just fine)

Lastly you put a .18 into a RC that uses a .12 and sometimes a .15, you will pull wheelies, a .18 is a big engine for such a small truck. I was doing major wheelies with a .15 in my RC10GT I couldnt imagine what it's like with a .18.

You could try putting metal weights in the front. It will improve steering and you wont pull wheelies as much. And with a .18 your speed wont suffer.

You said you turned the idle all the way down. What is the idle like when you did that? If it still has a high idle your LSN is too lean.

well my needle setting are fine its just the idle that wrong and the .18 is wicked fast and has great wheelies

i will try to buy the shims as soona possible hopefully thatll do it

and u guys said make the brakes drag, does that mean tighen them all the way!!!

no not all the way, just when the servo is at center, the brakes drag just a tiny bit, just enough to keep the wheels from turning.

for the wheelie problem you can get lead stickon weights which are used for seting the cg on a plane.......i had to put some on my savage when i changed the mill to a wasp28......

Don't be so quick to dismiss this advise, the LSN has a lot to do with an engines idle speed. As RR said if you turned your idle down and it's still too high you LSN is lean. Also you said when you put the brakes it dies, you need to make a linkage adjustment, the brake should not have any affect on the idle.

Yes the lead stick on weights will work just fine for your wheelie problem.
