Is the platinum transmission (with center diff and rear brake) a must for racing or is it really worth it? If so, what wt. diff. fluid are you guys running.

Also, with center diff. it won't wheelie anymore, right?

I absolutely love the center diff. in my Revo. I think a lot of if you need one or not centers around the surfaces you race on, and your particular driving style. I know for me, it made my truck much easier to race even when my suspension setup was way off.
They come 100k in them from the factory. I opened mine up and topped it of with 500k after a few race weekends (probably somewhere between 300 to 350K) and it works pretty good for me. A well tuned and properly geared 3.3 with a good pipe will ocasionally pick the front tires up, but certainly not on comand.

I'm a basher and I've had one in mine and really like the fact that you can adjust the brake bias so that you don't nose over onto your lid when you stand on the brakes. I'm just running the stock 100w in my diff and even with a Picco .26 Maxx it doesn't wheelie.

Well, I went to try it out today and my throttle servo took a crap! I guess I'll have to wait til this weekend. A friend of mine is going to let me barrow a servo for race day. I'm gonna try it with the stock fluid and see how I like it, then make adjustments from there.

Does anyone make a 300k wt.?
Thanks guys

Well, tried the stock 100k out today and .......I hate it! It's like it's only front wheel drive. I guess the Picco makes too much power. So, I will be taking the platinum trans out for race day and put it back in when I get some 500k.

Well, I put the 500k traxxas fluid in and I DON'T like it at all! It diffs out to the front wheels too much. Almost front wheel drive! It sucks!

Is there something else wrong? because It slows me way down.

Anyone want to buy a platinum trans?

Did you also install the rear brake set up? I hope so and if you did check and make sure it is working properly. I had to tweek mine when new, because the brake was actually dragging causing it to diff to the front. Once i got it set up wow what a differance it felt almost as comfortable on the track as my RC8T.

yeah, I put the rear brake on and made sure it was not dragging, because I knew that it would diff more to front if that was the case. I don't know, maybe its still not right.

If you find some, let me know. I've just been blending 100k and 500k.

You're welcome

you have to mix equal parts of 100k and 500k to make 300k... as long as the brand is the same, you'll be okay... lots of people make their own...

and you guys are making me jealous with the center diff talk... no can do for my MGT :(:(

what fun is a race monster truck when they don't even race them any more.

i just stripped my revo for sale and i am really bummed.

I run the PE with 500k diff oil and haven't had the front diff out and if it did the cd was low to empty, clean the diff put new oil in ran it this weekend and had no problems with the tranny, and what I learned is that the cd is more towards racing then bashing. You might want to adjust your suspension a little do the the wieght transfer.
