If you have a motor with the head off and you rotate the flywheel should you be able to feel a pinch in the sleeve? My buddy has a 1/2 gallon OS .18 and there is no resistance at all. It seems when I took my pico apart that there was a pretty good pinch.

Depends on the OS. My OS 18TM had 4 gallons or so through it before I didn't feel much when the engine was cold. My 21RG however, I didn't feel much after a gallon. I ran an additional 10 gallons through that engine before it started blowing plugs on me.

Does it tune badly? Does it stall out for no reason? Does it run at all? You could always send it to www.rayaracing.com to get it pinched. $25 for quite a bit more run time if it's giving you fits.

His runs we are swapping the engine bearings thats why i was wondering. I know the piccos stay tight for longer than most. At least thats what I read.

Yep, they do. More $ usually gets you better metallurgy that holds up longer. Not to say OS uses crap, but you'd find that a $200+ OS engine will hold a pinch you can feel quite a bit longer than the < $150 engines.

I like OS engines, but ever since they got rid of the 18TM, I was annoyed. Great little engine. Replaced with a $300 21TM... I mean really? An engine only for bashers that beat the crap out of their rigs and you charge $100 more than the engine it replaced? Not cool. I'm sure it's worth it, but I'll never know. :)

Yeah, idk why they decided to up the $$$ of that .21. Thats what he wanted from the start but for the $$$ didnt know if it was worth it. Putting his back together now. We both are swapping all of our bearings on the trucks to boca. After tear down I had a ton of grease leaking from one side of my front diff. I wish they would use a little better bearings in these things. Most of his that we are taking off have a good amount of crunch to them lol. wtf
