Piece of the World Trade Center

So Sunday I was going through Morton and we stopped for a rest break. We soon noticed that there was a big truck with a piece of the world trade center on the back. We walked over and learned more. Apparently Kitsap Country Fire Department was granted a beam from the world trade center. It was truly amazing to see, got some chills as I thought about it. 2,753 victims, including 343 firefighters and 60 police officers and port authority and 8 private EMTs crazy stuff!My thoughts are always with the family's of the victims. I will never forget that fateful day.

Our Fire department here in Indy has two beams from the WTC the are building a Monument on our Canal Downtown to memoralize them. When I get home I will get the pics my wife took at the fair of them and put up here.

I can remember the first time every going to NYC which was shortly after the 9/11 attacks. All the pictures and videos in the world just can't put it all into words. Seeing the huge crater and the damaged building surrounding the area was just to much.

That's really cool Indy is going to add a Monument. The canal down there really is pretty cool and I look forward to see it added. Any idea when it's going to be added?

I remember a lot about that day. I was a senior in high school. I was in the cafeteria when they silenced the room to announce what happened.. I grabbed my stuff and headed for the door. Even though it was highly unlikely that my high school would have been next, it was 3/4 mile long and had a giant blue roof that stuck out like a sore thumb.. I wasn't taking any chances.. When I got home I turned the TV on right away.. no one deserved to die that way. But, the part that really bothers me is that it takes a major tragedy like that to bring a nation together.

I watched them go up, and I've been to the top of both buildings.
Coming over the Brooklyn bridge and not seeing those immense towers looming ahead was a change I'll never get used to.

Kitsap Fire And Rescue will be making a memorial for 9/11 with the beams. I saw the piece when I was with my Fire Cadet program and Kitsap Firefighters thought it was real cool to see cadets there. I will post the pic when I get it on Monday. The fire dept of the town the truck was in gave the truck a escort with lights and sirens to the next stop. That was cool to see.

WoodiE they are suppossed to have it done in time for the anniversary this year so I believe the guy said they were goin to be starting the install after the State Fair ends on the 21st this month. And I totally spaced the pics it was hetic last night I will up them tonight.

Ernest Emerson from Emerson knives is in the process of making a knife which is made up from a part of one of the buildings beams and auctioning it off. Proceeds go to the Special Ops warrior foundation. Emerson makes some sexy looking knives. This will be something to keep an open eye for. I was told he is working on the knife as we speak.

There are two identical beams on that trailer from the WTC. There will also be a wall behind them with the names of everyone killed during that day.
