Hey, I checked that out, looks nice, but how much. Couldn't find the price on the website. Also, is it worth getting a power panel for the box, or just keep using my rechargeable glow plug ignitor??

eh, its up to you, it does go off the battery, but I dont know how much it uses, probably not too much. I use the re-char ignitor b/c I have another buggy w/ a pull start...

Please keep in mind that this is the beginning stages of this one and I'm sure I will have a blast once I get her finished.........might not belong here but this is the "buggy" picture thread right? LOL

I can't think of a better place for it! Reminds me of my days when I had a chevette...

A little TLC

Alright evan811, here she is again, after I gave her a couple hours of TLC.
Hyper7PBS4.gif

This was my first time taking her apart, so I was a little reluctant, but I made it.
One problem though, while I was cleaning the engine, I think a little dirt dropped inside the cylinder, is that ok? Will it burn up upon ignition, or is it something I have to dismantle the engine to fix??

i would at least pull the back plate off the motor and try to shake it out....

these engines don't like dirt in them at all....could do some serious damage.....

just to be safe....i'd at least do that......just make sure the engine is at Top Dead Center when you remove the backplate.....not sure on your engine but some .21's have a groove in the backplate that allows the piston skirt to clear on BDC.....if its a BDC and in that groove you could bust the piston ....

and thats a costly error....

just my 2 cents worth
mitch

to clean it

walmart sells some stuff called PB blaster in the automotive section thats good for cleaning engines....relube it with some 3-in-1 oil when done.....button her up...and let her rip.....

hahahaha!!

Looking good there, nice and clean!
Its always good to take everything apart, to clean it and also to become firmiliar with your buggy incase you have to disasamble for something serious...

Man... you need to get yourself a better air filter. That little thing is just sad on that buggy. Looks like a 1/10 filter. You'd be surprised how much a better flowing filter amps up the power. Also, it gets dirty slower.

Yeah it's the new hitec invisi-servo. Fastest one on the market!!

No, I've got a new one in route, so I just left the old one out to save time...

Somehow I knew I'd get some slack from that....

Hey Olds, what air filter do you recommend? And from where?

Thanks!

I run an OS filter on my mbx-5, and have been pretty much since I got it (around a year ago)... But i am also curious if there is a better flowing + quility filter out there...

The more and more I talk to you guys, the less respect I have for stock parts. I hate almost everything that came with my "RTR" Hyper 7 PBS, except for the drivetrain and engine. The stock shock oil made it look like a low-rider, the stock servos couldn't beat a termite at arm-wrestling, AA battery packs only give 4.8V and suck at my wallet like a Tijiuana experience I had once...
I am a newb at this and will be the first to admit, but my recommendation to anyone joining the hobby is "Don't buy a RTR!!!"

That looks like the stock OFNA filter. The one on the Hyper 7 PCR is slightly different but it works well. OFNA filters are not usually known to be performance hinderers, so maybe it is the camera perspective. That said, BIGGER IS BETTER! (in most cases)

I was just giving you a hard time for the most part... That said, I use motor savers and OS 21 sized filters. The only reason I use the OS filters is because I've had 3 OS 21 RG's and I have all the pieces to all the filters, but I only have 2 of the engines still. One in my savage, which has a motor saver filter and one in my 1/8th buggy which has an OS filter. They both breath better than filters like yours IMHO.

I actually took one of the OS filters and CA'd it to the filter neck/boot on my revo!

You can get the MS (motor saver) filters off of tower. HPI makes a "mock" motor saver thats a little cheaper, but probably just as good.

ok here's my mayhem buggy.i need a black wing. does anyone know where i can get one?
