My S-25 has been very reliable and consistent for over 3 gallons. It still has like new compression, it makes good power, it holds a tune well, and it is easy on glow plugs. I decided to turn things up a notch so I got an Ofna Picco 26, the optional 9mm carb venturi, and an optional blunt LSN.

Here is the motor right out of the box. I removed both needles and cleaned out the carb. The stock 8mm insert is in the carb.

Sealed the backplate and the carb neck with RTV. Spun the fuel inlet around to the stock Savage position (it was reversed). Also spun the carb slide ball joint cap around to the stock Savage position.

Installed it in the Savage with the 18T clutch bell.

I started it up with the stock LSN and the stock 8mm carb venturi insert and let it idle for a tank with very rich settings. I let it cool for about 2 hours, started it again, and drove it around at low speeds with very rich settings. I was blipping the throttle from about a 5 MPH roll and it had no problems lifting a wheelie on pavement from a roll. This is pretty impressive for a non-tuned motor running the 18T clutch bell.

I look forward to finishing break-in and tuning it with the optional LSN and 9mm carb venturi insert.

can you give a link to the engine, and carb set up. I want a picco engine but can't find it.

thanks

i found the engine at tower. Is the carb venturi going to make it better or slower?

why even run a carb venturi at all unless your racing. You will get more power if u just take it completely out

actually wont the shape of the inside of the carb neck without a venturi insert make the air not flow into the carb as well even though the opening will be bigger? with the venturi insert the opening will be a nice smooth venturi which will speed up airflow, without one in the carb will have a shoulder making the air not flow as smooth. just wondering, not sure if that is true.

The torque of this thing is unbelievable. I have yet to tune it for performance but it still will flip over on its lid off the line at half throttle with the 18T clutch bell. If I baby it off the line and give it about ½ throttle before it hits second gear it will rip a nasty high speed wheelie into second gear. Big high-speed wheelies from a roll are no problem at all.

I am still running it with the Silver LSN and the 8mm insert. I plan to run the black LSN and the 9mm insert. The 9mm insert will probably result in a loss of low-end torque along with a gain in high-end torque and HP. That is fine with me because even in an un-tuned state this motor has more low-end than I can really use.

I agree with alkyula's venturi comments.

I am using the stock SS ribbed pipe.
