Well I'm about 4 tanks into the break in of the Picco. This motor rocks. I can already tell that is WAY more powerful than the 3.3, and thats not even WOT or second gear yet. The 3.3 just wasn't enough power/torque after alum upgrades and 40 series tires. I've the THS pipe on the Picco and definately improved flow and sound! I personally enjoy the ear splitting sound of nitro!

Just managed to get my Picco run in too on my TMaxx.

Wow!!! Didn't expect that much difference. Couple of times, driving along at WOT, all four wheels on the ground, hit second gear and the front wheels came up lol.

Std Traxxas Resonator pipe on too, look forward to what you make of it with the pipe on too.

Well I got a problem that I'm going to try on work on today. The fuel in the tank is frothing causing air bubbles to feed into my fuel lines going to the carb. I'm going to check to see if it's just vibrations shaking the heck out of the tank or if maybe it's backpressure issue (maybe too much or inconsistent backpressure).

yeah, it's still the stock tank. Does that cause problems? I didn't get a chance today to investgate, but it looks like it's going to be backpressure related issue. The rest of the truck dosen't seem to be vibrating anymore than usual. I was going to try and disconnect the pressure line and manually pressure the line and check from there.

Ya the stock tank is a known problem, most replace it with an Ofna Violator tank.

Use these for tank posts

You have to mount it in the battery box location is the only downside, but it does reduce the
half tank lean issue the stock tank is notorious for.

You can reuse the rear battery box hole & drill a new one for the front tank mount post.

Thanks for the help. What about the stock tank causes issues, is it the shape or size, etc. ?

I would like some more info on the tank issue also, I was looking at upgrading to the pro line run time take but it seems to be the same shape as the stock one

I believe the stock tank issue comes from its height. Because the fuel level is so high when fully filled you get like a syphon effect, then as the fuel level drops, the mixture starts to lean out.

The Proline runtime tank makes this problem worse due to its increased size.

Hope I've got this right lol

Ok kind of makes sense. I was also thinking what if I filled the tank with nitro safe foam, similar to what F1 cars have in their tanks to reduce sloshing. The hard part would be finding a foam that doesn't "melt" with exposure to nitro. The last thing I want is suck melted foam through my mill. Also maybe if incorporated an expansion chamber on my pressure line to stabilize the incoming pressure( e.g. a fuel filter running dry on the pressure line). Seems like I have some experimenting to do.

Tank height(how high it above the carb it sticks) & shape has to do with it, you couldn't give me one of those proline tanks.
The stock tank is also poorly made & with 4 mounting points it's more susceptible to cracking.

The Violator tank is a good choice, has baffles & a bronze filter, holds 145cc of fuel.

You just need to zip~tie/cable velcro your 6v hump pack to the front tower.

I did a little research online and now understand how shape affects the half tank lean issue. As the fuel level drops to midpoint, the backpressure is distributed over larger surface area duer to tank shape causing less fuel pressure. I found one listing online how a guy drilled out his fuel barb allowing greater fuel flow. Maybe this will help. I think my foam idea wont help much.

It also has to due with the top 3rd of the tank being above the carb too so it get's more
push from gravity along with the shape.

Be careful drilling it out as the traxxas tank is brittle.

Your still going to have the 1/2 tank lean issue as drilling it out will only change the
flow overall and will not affect the difference you get from the height & shape.

yeah I'm just trying to devolop some fuel tank "theory" at the moment. I currently have my carb line routed higher than the carb, so that may not be as big as issue as the tank shape. I'm going to shop around for a tank that is short and long and uniform in shape from top to bottom.

Most people will just advise to go with the Ofna Violator tank as it is tried and tested.

Here's a side view of the Ofna tank I listed on the other page, I have been really happy with it since putting it on my maxx.

Has internal baffles, a bronze filter & the top pressure inlet nipple can be rotated 360°.

Liked it so well I put one on my wife's maxx & her tank wasn't even broken! :)

I've bought one to fit to mine.

But, I am debating on fitment.

I bought a hump pack for my receiver of which when I need to charge it I just plug the Traxxas charger straight into the battery box. Very neat, very tidy. I don't really want to do away with the battery box, so I need another mounting solution, but I'm not sure what it is yet.
