First of all hello all, I'ts my first time posting on Nitro talk.

I'm looking for a new motor for my GS Storm, my local hobby store are recommending a Picco .26.

What do you guys think of this motor ?

John

Make sure you have the kind of hobby shop thats willing to help you tune.

The engine has sick crazy power, but, can be very cumbersome to tune at first.

Certainly. Once you find the sweet spot. As with any mill, you will have to adjust to the outside elements. Temp, Humidity and Altitude.

The only engine that truly holds a tune IMO is an O.S.. Thats it. Everything else requires more 'at the trackside' tuning. Even an O.S..

The Picco is particular. But nothing that an experienced tuner would mind. I WOULD NOT recommend this engine to someone that is new to the hobby. But thats me.

are u going to be getting rid of one any time soon? as i said i was looking for another engine to try and wouldnt mind one of these.

I've had my picco 26 for a couple of weeks now and I've been having a hard time with it. Don't get me wrong, I like the power. But I have not run a full tank without it cutting out. I can't say that I'm an expert at tuning, but I've had better experiences with my other engines. This one is the most challenging to say the least.

I tried to reset the needle settings on this as well. Particularly the LSN. The instructions said to turn out from close 10.5 to 11 turns. This sticks the needle adjustment out a few mm's. I can't believe this is the resetted settings. So I just set the LSN flush then tuned from there.

I tore the engine apart last night and rebuilt it. I ran it this morning and it seems to hold up. I'm taking it to KZ Speedway tonight and see how it will do. If it pisses me off anymore, I'll let you know.

Oh this picco 26 is a non pullstart.

i had a roto start on my engine, and hated it so i just bought a pull start and like it more cause you always have to charge the roto start and it sucks. so supermaxx97, i know what your saying

exactly, i hate all of the easy starters and roto starter things. i like the regular pull start. besides it dont cost as much.

Well I FINALLY figured out what my ONLY issue has really been with the one Picco .26 I have. The flywheel was slipping. Due to my dumbass putting the clutchnut on backwards. No wonder it kept stalling! Grrrrrrrrrrr...........

All fixed now and running like a CHAMP again!

It was running like a champ. What was happening is that it was just flaming out at mid speed for no apparent reason. Talk about perplexing.

No resistance from the flywheel, clutch or tranny causes all kinds of weird poop.
