Anyone have photo's of a big block installed? Be it a new era kit or another, I'd just like to see the setups you guys are using for pipes and whatnot.

Kind of wondering if I can shoehorn in a traxxas BB header from their conversion kit to do away with the side pipe. I kind of like running a truck that looks like a truck vs a total hatchet job to fit a side pipe.

Thanks.

i do not have a pic atm, but i actually used pieces from both the traxxas kit and the new era BB kit. I used the header, a few springs, flywheel, and some hardware from the traxxas kit, and used the mount and its accessories from the new era kit. The new era kit includes a mount that can be used with an engine with a pull start or ez start, where as the traxxas mount you can only use a bump start because the pull start would just hit the rear A- arm. I am still using the stock tuned pipe atm, just bored out the stinger. But have a THS big block pipe on the way because the traxxas header that came with the kit is poop. I will try to get a pic up soon.

Here's a thread I just made with the progression of mine:

As it is right now:

Well, I saw something someone else did and figured I'd give it a try. Take a BB pipe, put a short tube on the side of it, plug the end of the pipe and connect the tube to the exhaust port on the engine directly. Hopefully it doesn't rain all day tomorrow and I'll be able to see how it does.

Well, after the JB weld set up a while, I figured I'd try and mount it. It's not pretty by any means, but hopefully it's functional.

The pipe:

I bought a 1/2" copper plumbing T fitting, cut it down the middle and opened it up like a clam. Then I shaped it as best as I could to form fit around the taper of the pipe. Then I just drilled a hole in the pipe where the T opening was. I dremelled it out so there aren't any rough spots and that ensured that the hole was the right size.

Installed:

I put two pipe hangers on it. One to support the middle and one to help keep the far end from flopping around.

Clean it up a little, smooth it out, vht flat black it & that would look clean! Any power diff from that?

Yeah, didn't hold up. Leaking in a few spots around the edges and made tune chasing a full time job. So, it seems side pipe or try the trinity I have coming in the mail...

Prior to the leakage, tune wasn't bad and power was well above the fantom pipe I was trying, but neither were as good as a hum drum side pipe I had setup. However, if it had been more durable, I would have lived with the power loss.

Too bad too.

Shwew glad I didn't go through with my home made ideas for my n4-tec 3.3 exhaust with same concept out the rear.:hehe:
