Okay guys, well I think I am going to take up another one of my passions and thats photography. I need help deciding on a Camera though... Any Ideas? I probably will get a SLR-like camera as I am still in High School and working Part time at Jack in the Box. I'm mainly about scenery. Love to capture the moments.

Here are some I took with my phone. Just so you guys get a basic understanding of what I like to shoot.

LOL!!! Man, I scared the honey when I laughed at this one... great stuff.

Nice pics dude, you have a good eye! I dunno much about cameras and the like, I go through so many of them (Jeep -- Off-road trails) that I just buy 100 dollar Kodaks over and over hahaha.

:)

I take my shots with a Fujifilm Finepix S 5800. (you may not have heard of them over there) And yes, SLR.

Yeah, fugifilm has some really nice cameras out. They are a global company so they're everywhere. They actually have one I'm looking at that I like. Ugh, prices suck when you have low income. Anyone sellin theirs?

You wont be dissapointed with the Fuji.
If you want i'll get some pics that have been taken with it to show pic quality?

I post this in the other thread too, but I'll say it again. I do RC cars and helis, ride supermoto, and have other expensive hobbies as well but by far photography could easily be the most expensive. Do some research, get a photog friend and ask their advice, and be honest with yourself about what you want the camera to be able to do before dropping the cash on a DSLR setup. The last thing you want is something you'll outgrow in six months that you spent all your hard earned money on. The camera body is the cheap part BTW, good lenses are where you'll spend the money. I get a lot of enjoyment from my photography, and it relaxes me compared to my other hobbies. Good luck with it, and keep us posted.

do you have any d-slr camera equipment now? if so, i would try and stay in that 'family'. it will make things cheaper for you in the long run. if you dont, take a good long look at the Sony Alpha line-up. it has the vibration reduction feature built into the camera rather than the lens which will make buying a future lens MUCH cheaper. besides the ALpha 100's are fairly cheap now. another thing to remember is, check into what your photography friends have. that will make learning how to use the camera much easier.

Personally i decided on the Nikon D80 (2 yrs back) when I got my DSLR simply b/c the 2people i shoot with both had Nikons and it was easy to call them with questions.

I'm rockin the Kodak Easyshare system here. On Kodak #2, due to the ocean consuming the first one.. Not Bad cameras for a hobby photographer. I've captured some pretty good shots with both of them, mainly of nature and the boys.. The "action mode" is very useful with small children cause it cranks up the exposure and captures kids running! No blurry mess! The model that I have is very diverse, from a fireworks mode (which works out awesome!) to a scenery mode to a very sensative macro mode (which is the one I use mainly)
Check out the pictures in myspace.

Under "pictures of objects" Yeah, mostly of flowers.. but i like them :)

Here's couple of my favorite shots with my EOS 450D just to give you an idea of what a "cheaper" DSLR setup is capable of.

Nice shots! The F-16 pics bring back memories. I used to work on them in the USAF.
i remember one night i was sitting out by a pond on base at about 4 in the morning drinking beer. I knew the Thunderbirds were coming to our base that day....Well one of the smartasses decided to buzz me.....Out of nowhere he dropped down to at least 100ft. above the pond and nailed the throttle. I'm sure he had good laugh. It was cool but scared the poop out of me!

I've got an OLD Minolta SLR that I just love. No digital here for me, except for the camera phone. I picked mine up used from a camera repair shop. And like HPI said, the lenses are the expensive part. Heres some of my best... dont mind the black things in the middle, its from my scanner.

Wow, those pictures are absoultely amazing. I love the waterfall! How many megapixels should I be tryin to get? What exactly is the megipixel thing? I use to think better pictures but I've seen great pictures from low megipixel.

the more mexapixles = more "dots" on the picture.

think back to the old nintendo. it was 8 bit so all the stuff had to consist of no more then 8 "dots" and they were blocky. that is an extreme example, but the higher the MP the more you can digitally zoom in on a picture, or enlarge a picture before it becomes blurry or jagged.

my rebel is only 8MP but unless your planning on blowing up a picture to poster sized, its overkill. I did however take a pic with my moms 40d and blow it up to poster size. looks amazing.

that is the picture, i have it blown up really big, in black and white, matted with a chrome trim. its hanging in my pool room.

A lot of good shots in this thread guys, nice work fellas. And thanks for the props on my waterfall shot guys, I was stoked with it considering I had owned my first DSLR a total of less than a month at the time. And LosiLST, keep in mind that more megapixels in general means you can blow the image up larger without losing quality.....there comes a point that you need REALLY good glass to take full advantage of a high MP sensor. That's my problem now, a 12.1 MP camera and a small budget for glass. For most of the stuff I shoot, the average person won't notice any degradation of quality when blown up. But a true photog or pixel peeper can spot it.

I shoot with a Canon Powershot G2 and a Nikon D2H (that I just bought for 200 bucks!). Here's some of my G2 pics. No Nikon pics yet due to loss of funds for lenses.

Enjoy!
