I've never used those things before but I'm thinking about gettin that spray, its not illegal and it can't be seen by the naked eye like that guy said, I'm not a red light runner cuz that could kill somone but i am known by the DE police dept. to break a few posted speed limit signs and even run from the cops, but i wonder if that stuff stops you from seeing the numbers if headlights are shining at the plate

running from the cops? I don't think it'll overexpose you're mug shot. :stick:

I don't know about the spray, but here in NY, license plates must not have any obstructions or covers on them. The lights shining on the license plates must be clear or white, so the neon frames are illegal.

I have one and it did work but I took it off as it can get risky using it. Basically if you look head on at the plate, you can still make out the plate number but if you look at plate at any given angle, it will blur out the plate number. It seems like just a clear hologram film or some sort. I tested it out on the speed pass toll booths here in NJ because my EZ-Pass toll tag didn'thave any funds on it and here in NJ, if you run through the speed pass lanes with a dead speed pass tag, they photograph your license plate and send you a fine in the mail with a photo of your plate running the toll. So I tried it out for almost a month and not one ticket in the mail for running the tolls. BTW, they really do send you a photo of you running the tolls here because before I even put the photo tag blocker over my license plate, I had received two ticket fines for running the tolls.
My truck does not have a front license plate as I chose not to mount one even though I am supposed to have one in NJ.

Funny thing is I promote alot of Import Car tuner events and they sell these sprays and plate blockes at the shows. Thats how I got mine.

Don't take me wrong gentlemen, as a rule I do not run through red lights or drive recklessly because of the obvious. From time to time find myself traveling 15 mph over the speed limit when my truck is in over-drive. I may give the covers a try.

I've had 3 total speeding tickets. They were all for driving above and beyond 15mph over the speed limit. At the time of those tickets I was not using my cruise control. I ALWAYS use my cruise control now. That way I know for sure I'm not slowly accelerating w/o notice. I read somewhere a few years ago a list of tips on avoiding speeding tickets and one of them was if you are going to speed, limit it to 10mph over the posted limit. Since then I've always set my cruise to 10 over no matter where I'm at whether it be in a rural 35mph zone or a highway 65mph zone. I cruise by traps all the time w/o lifting, braking, or killing the cruise. I've never been pulled over for doing 10mph over. It seems they don't really bother with minor speeding very ofton. I figure if they are out there taxing, the're gonna get as much money as they can. It's fast enough to keep up with traffic w/o having everybody on you're ass and slow enough to stay out of trouble. Maybe it'll catch up to me someday but I'd be more than happy to pay a 10 over ticket for the convenience (and fun) of a little more speed.

next time i make it to a show, ill be picking up the can type. after a very nasty speeding ticket this past spring i also picked up a Valentine 1 radar detector. i speed, i know it, i wont stop, but i will take every precaution available to avoid a ticket.

however not every ticket is avoidable. you just have to remember that the tickets you pay, are the cost of the privelidge of driving whatever speed you want.

Man, they put my ass cheeks on TV and I didn't even know. Aren't you supposed to sign a consent form or something?

too bad they dont use photo radar here in NJ or id invest in the stuff in a hearbeat. There is "usually" a cop behind the wheel.

I have had way too many speeding tickets in my life ... one for going 40mph over the speed limit. (lost my license for a year on that one). The only place they DO use it is at the tolls as Corrado said. i AM proud to say that I have gotten 5-6 EZPASS tickets in the mail and have beat everyone of them. All I had to do was to show proof I had a EZPASS-NY account and they only charged me the amount of the toll. I know getting the NY version when it first came out would eventually pay off. Muahahaha...lol

Same here as far as the tickets go. I did learn the hard way. Gave up the last of my fast sports cars 17 years ago. The last ticket was when my mother was admitted to the haspital and I was in a hurry. South of Merced on Hwy 99 headed to Fresno the CHP aiplane clocked me and 2 CHP cars pulled me over. It was a mandatory appearace and the judge was not impressed, $900 with 40 hours of community service plus a 6 month restricted license. Live and learn.

he never said how fast he was going.

i almost got locked up for mine. i had the cruise set around 100 in a 55 down in Va.

Well folks here in Ca if they can't show your face and the plate in the same picture, you can fight the ticket and win every time.

It may be your car but the driver is responsible. All you need to say is I wasn't driving, Its up to them to prove your guilt.

There was that feeling again in the pit of my stomach after posting that statement. It was 1987 and my last ticket. Nothing to be proud of and a warning for anyone thinking that that driving that fast is cool, even if your car can safely do it.
In court the CHP said that it was an undetermined speed in excess of 140. My car was a 1986 Porsche Turbo Carrera Coupe which was faster than the little airplane that they were using. Lets just say that I needed to call for a taxi to retrieve it from the impound yard. The worst part was the insurance costs for the next three years. My past is filled with fast cars. Chevy, Mopar, Supermodifieds similar to these and Porche.
My current life is filled with pickups, mini vans, children and grandchildren.
