I need to do some small detail work on some lexan/polycarbonate rc bodies. I have been searching for paint pens that are compatable with no luck. Can someone help me out with a website that sells paint pens for lexan/poly rc bodies? Thanks alot.

If these are anything like mine, the tip comes out and you can refill them. So you could put any paint in them you want.

Nenrte 3pcs Silver Mirror Marker, Liquid Mirror Marker Model Gloss Oil-based Paint Marker Pen Watercolor, Liquid Paint Pens Marker Set for on Any Surface https://a.co/d/4OF6rCI

The paint that is in mine cleans up with alcohol. So you could flush these out and put some thinned Parma Faskolor in them I am guessing.

I haven't tried this with RC car bodies, but before paint pens were a thing, when I was a kid I would use an aerosol can to spray into the cap and use a fine point paint brush for detail work, I still use this method to this very day in favor of paint pens which tend to be too thick.

With lexan bodies I always use masking tape with aerosol and haven't had the need to fine detailing, though professional painters use liquid mask and air brush.

Paint pens are VERY handy for detail work. Much better than a brush or masking, which is sometimes very hard to do, even with liquid mask.

Thanks WF. I'll check that out.

Hey Bill....thanks for the reply. This is another option.
Just know the fine point one is very small. You'll need a syringe bottle to fill it.
👍

I posted a question asking if those paint pens are refillable. Two people said no. But I am betting they don't even know the tip comes out. Let me find a link for the ones I bought...

Here they are. The ones I linked earlier are cheaper, and look just like them.

Yeah those are cool. Look good for detail chrome work. I'll give it a shot. Regardless I'll use them for something. Thanks buddy.
Getting my painting equipment together. So far, ordered air brush Paasche dual kit with compressor, small 2'×4' painting shelter, portable set-up table all the tapes and liquid mask. I see you use the Parma Faskolor so I'll give that a try. Got a ultrasonic bench top cleaner on the way. Just another day in RC, right?

Hey WF...Where do you order your Parma Faskolor? Also, what's your best guess on the shelf life of a bottle if kept in climate controlled area?
Thanks

I have bottles of Faskolor that are over 5 years old. It is water based, so you can easily thin it back out if it starts to dry up, but so far it hasn't. To thin it, the best thing to use believe it or not is Fantastik.

I buy mine either off ebay, or I used to buy from Mid-America Raceway, who I found on ebay. They still sell it on ebay, but it's not on their site anymore since it changed. If you call them maybe they can hook you up. It was cheaper buying off their website, which used to be midamericaraceway.com (Chinese owned site now... hmm 🤔), but their new site is https://slotcarstore.net

Or better yet, try here.

I didn't realize there were paint markers with tips as thin a 1mm, that's a game changer for sure, thanks for the "tip" pun intended, ha!

They are very nice. I am not sure how well acrylic paints will flow through them, as I haven't tried that yet. But my plan was to buy the cheaper set, flush the chrome out, and give them a try. I am sure there are other colors besides chrome, gold, etc, but I never looked. I bought the ones I have for detailing wheels and window trim on classic car models.

Oh, you added to this I think and I missed it.

I also use Createx and Spazstix paints. The Createx Candy 2.0 system is just amazing. This is Createx...

Other airbrush acrylics to check out is Alclad, which is very popular with the tabletop gamer crowd who paint all their little dolls... I mean figures 😜

Not sure how Alclad would do on lexan though. People say Createx doesn't do well on lexan, but I haven't seen any problems using it.

Sorry to spam you with too much info Charlie, but I saw a review saying the cheap pens I posted are nowhere near as good as the Molotow pens. So mabye the Molotow would be better suited for you.

No problem. I'll go with what I ordered. So anyway...Parma paint was hard to find and didn't have the colors I wanted (not much selection). I ended up at Createx and ordered some of their pearl and opaque paints. 16 bottles. Everything supposedly in stock. I'll see how this all works out. Thanks for helping.
Oh hey I just checked and the Molotow is what I ordered.

Where did you order the Createx from? www.spraygunner.com is where I get mine from.

And Parma's website that I linked above has all the Faskolor colors I clicked on in stock. And decent prices to boot!
