as you already know I have overheating problems with my warhead (in the 300s, even 370-390 sometimes).
It's new - I ran 1 and 1/8 tank with it so far (therefore still at the beginning of the break-in process).

I know it can be many things like too lean or air leaks. If it is an air leak, how do you check for ai leaks ? how do you fix it ? like what type of sealant ?

If not too lean (I know it is not this because I put very rich), and not an air leak (remember it is brand new), what ELSE CAN IT BE ?

thank you,

P.S.: my tempgun seems working fine. I measure by putting the tip of it just above the heat sink (vertically), almost touching it.

I was at the hobby shop the other day and one of the guys was talking about how making it TOO rich will cause the fuel inside the engine block (under the cylinder) to ignite. I have no idea how this works, but if it is a real condition it may be your problem. He said the people who showed it to him kept richening it and it kept getting worse, they were getting into the 400's range.

Now that's something I've NEVER heard of in over 30 years of using nitro engines.
I've learned NOT to listen to everything a salesman says. It seems some of them think that if they tell you something you've never heard of before, that you'll be impressed with their knowledge.

You could have a air leak even though its new. Could be the back plate, the carb or even the tank lid. I figured the engine would die from being over rich before it overheated. I think most of the guys use RTV sealent from a automotive store for the back plate and carb. Hope this helps.

:nono: I was pretty skeptical too. Thought I might bring it up though *shrugs*

ok but what do you suggest ?

It sounds like an air leak. There is more to air leaks than just sealing the block. It could also be a bearing, head shim, anything that fuel runs through. It's very possible on a new engine.

If it's new you should bring it back to where you bought it and ask for advise, it should be covered under warranty.

I hate to tell you this but "A LOT" of people have problems with the Stupid Tiger engine in the Warhead. That was my first 1/8 scale RC. Check you head bolts.....mine came new with loose screws in the cooling head. Pulling the engine in that is kinda a PITA but sounds like you may have too. Re-seal everything or like Maxxin said take it back. I replaced the engine in mine with an aftermarket AFTER 3, yes I did say 3, three.....big number 3 stock engine replacements in mine before I said hell with it. The last one I cooked to 400 before it seized and melted as I laughed like a mad man then pulled it and smashed it with a BFH.
