My brother just got into a car accident. No one was hurt, but the side of the car was pretty ruined. The cops think that he will get his license suspended (Had 2 speeding tickets before). I'll try to post some pictures later.

Ow man. My parents recently got into a rear-ender. They stopped to avoid some numbskulls making an illegal turn, and a car rear-ended their Ram 1500 (SLT Laramie Edition). Damage?

Ram; bent bumper, bumper mounts, trailer electrical socket, tail light slightly bent and some paint on the underside of the fender scraped off. Damage total, $1300.

The other car (Honda Civic); the hood, fender, bumper, and passenger light were pretty much scrap. Damage was probably over three grand, easy.

The car that hit my parents was ruled at-fault (goofy CA laws). The idiots that caused the wreck basically got away with it. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Ohio has a similar law. It basically comes down maintaining an assured cleared distance. They figure if you rear end someone, you were following too close, so it's your fault you hit them, regardless of why they stopped.

The other idiots should have still be sited for an illegal turn, if they were still around, when the cops got there.

yep, same in Ohio like Grey said. No matter what the conditions are the person at the back is at fault. Doesn't matter if it's snowing or if the guy in front of you slams the brakes for a deer in the road... still at fault. Assured Clear Distance.

They ran from the scene. I guess you could say it was a "caused an accident and ran" type scenario. The thing that made it worse, is that the accident occurred in a low-spot between two hills; the car that hit my parents' truck literally had no chance to react.

I've got the pics :
