For those that remember my earlier post about tuning, I've gotten another two tanks through my RTR Savy and it was really ripping through the grass tonight. I was showing off to my brother in law and decided to do a high speed run down the street to show him how it shifts.

Well, it went behind his car (parked on the street) and with the road crown the truck moved to the right and clipped his tire. He was leaning against his car and he said he felt it hit!

Anyway, looks like a clean break. Dogbone is OK and the hinge pin seems to be as well. Just need to pick up a new hub...

It's not fun unless your breaking them, right?

ouch,,

And so it begins. lol.
Was taking my Savage apart to service/clean it and found that the pin going into the rear center diff cup from the center rear dogbone had fallen out. soooo my truck was only front wheel drive lol. no wonder i couldnt get it to Wheelie last time out....

Like you said, it aint fun less ya break something.

mater of fact i think the savage comes with a spare one of those.. seems that is a normal part to break.. congradulations on your first break!!! there will be plenty more to come..

Really? Thanks Beason, I'll have to drag the box out of the attic and take a look at the extras and see what's in there...

Thanks...

If not I'm sure a new tree with the hubs on it isn't too much...

You can find new hubs on ebay for around 3-4 bucks, a cheap fix.

And congrats on your first break! lol

i've found that the hub and carriers are the only parts that break. since they are cheap, might want to pick up a couple.

take a look in the B/S/T section. most of the time people sell off their stock ones if/when they go alum. i might score a good deal there.

Thanks Savage fan...

No spares in the box, and now that I have it apart I found the hinge pin bent too. Going to the LHS tonight to pick up some spares and the dual disc brake parts I've been wanting and some diff oil to perform the four gear diff mod...
