I have an os max rg that is almost new condition and I'm thinking about getting a big block installation for revo 3.3. Does anyone know that the engine would drop in or need modification?

Thank you

let me know if your getting rid of that OS engine. itll have a good home here lol

as far as i know any 2.5, 2.5R, and 3.3 will drop right into a revo
thats what it says on the traxxas website

That engine does not work with the Traxxas big block kit per Traxxas. Maybe some other aftermarket kit may allow it to fit though.

It will work with the New Era leaner kit (which I happen to have and would sell for a reasonable fee), but that engine is not a good one on the revo due to how the carb is.

The 21RG has the LSN adjustment on the opposite side of the slide barrol. Which means, on the NE BB mount, it's pretty much inaccessible. But, considering it is an OS, and it's the 21RG, tuning the LSN will be rarely required with only minor changes to the HSN to account for ambient temps.

Running it with the NE leaner mount and a duratrax warhead header works really well for big blocks in general. I used the warhead header/pipe combo. Not the best pipe in the world, but the alignment was perfect due to the longer length of the header. It allowed the pipe to rest almost level with the chassis vs being at a drastic angle up in the rear.

I ran an XTM 24.7 in mine though for a bit of time. It worked out really well with the carb not being an issue like the OS was. If it were me and if the OS was new, I'd sell it for $100 and buy the XTM 24.7 or something similar. I bought my XTM24.7 on ebay for $90+$10 shipped, brand new.

It's too bad the OS21RG carb is setup the way it is. It's a very mild engine as far as power is concerned, but has a great amount of torque, decent RPM's and will run solid all day long without touching a tuning screwdriver. All good things for a BB revo. Plenty of power to be frightening...

I have photo's of when I had my 21RG installed (with a home-ade header mess to get me buy until the other one was delivered), but they aren't very close up and I no longer have the truck. But then you can see what I mean about the alignment of things. I also have pics of it with the XTM24.7 in it and the actual header/pipe. I don't want to bugger up your thread with my old photo's though unless you want to see what your getting into.

This is the NE Kit I have (on a shelf): http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi?session_id=&part_id=2553
Very well built, but I didn't sell it with the chassis when I got rid of the revo. It only came with the mount and linkage, not the header in the photo's. That's sold separately, as is the pipe.

This is the header: http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi?session_id=&part_id=2648

Not sure what pipe they have, but I think it's just their standard ringed BB pipe.

Let me know if you'd like to discuss the BB kit. I could also find the header I used and whatnot to try and help you along.

Thanks guys!
Mattyfats420: It's abit far to ship the engine there. Thanks for the offer.
olds97_lss: I live in Thailand. The shipping cost might kill the interest for new era leaner kit. I'll look around see what they have. I don't mind the have lsn at the wrong side, I hardly touch that. Once I have it all tune once. I just need to work on hsn after that no matter what wheather is like. The wheather here is hardly change anyway, only hot and very hot.

thanks for posting this about the OS .21 RG, i have a friend that was going to sell me this with the traxxas BB kit for $90 but now after reading this i know it will not work with what I'm trying to do with my revo. i guess its back to the drawing board with getting new racing engine for my revo. thanks though for this cuz i would have had an engine i wouldnt have been able to use!

the picco 26 drops right in.

Thank you

the picco .26 drops right in and everything bolts right up, even the backplate for the remote start. if you put that picco in that truck is gonna be wheelie central.
hope I'm not too late

It just might....and how about the HPI .25 It was the most tuning forgiving engine I ever had. I do have a Warhead pipe and header I might be offloading soon. Or an Adam Drake Losi pipe? I am in Okinawa...so a bit closer.

I'm pretty sure i have a local guy here with the HPI 4.6 in there revo with the traxxas BB kit. always do research though before you go buy anything. dont want to be disappointed if it doesn't work!

I got the bb kit, but need to find time to get the 4.6 in. If it doesn't fit, then I need more shopping for engine to do. Is there any tune pipe that will work with HPI 4.6 engine that would stay in revo original position? Thanks guys.
