OK guys, I just picked up a used OS .15 CV-RX quite affordably. After cleaning it and inspecting it, I realized that it simply needs a piston/sleeve and it will be right back in fighting condition. BUT...I looked at Tower, and a piston/sleeve for it is $73!!!!! HOLY CRAP! And I also realized that if I wanted to use the engine in my touring car, I'd need a new crank because this one's cut for a Maxx. So what I'm wondering is (1) where is a good place to get parts for this engine that might be cheaper than Tower? And (2) is there any chance that someone here has a standard length crankshaft for an OS .15 CV-RX laying around that they might want to sell me at a good price???

Thanks..

I haven't found anyplace yet. I have 2 of the same engines. One cut for a maxx sitting on a shelf with 1 gallon through it and the other uncut in my xxx-nt with 6 or 7 gallons through it.

I haven't had to replace a sleeve yet, so i haven't given it much thought.

Although, khb was supposed to have their graphite type piston and sleeve done for this engine. Which is supposed to last in excess of 20 gallons.

I can't help you with the crank but take the piston and sleeve and get them pinched. It costs about $10-$20 depending on who you get to do it. It is a lot cheaper than a new piston and sleeve and works every bit as good or better than a new one. I had a Top CV12 done, runs as good as ever, maybe even better.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking the piston/sleeve will be ok for a while. And I have no clue where I can get one pinched. I have heard about it, but don't know where to look. I will probably just pony up for the crank. I looked on ebay for a beat up old engine, but no luck. Thanks again.

Candyman,

Just go to E bay and RC cars, then punch in resize, you will get all kinds of resizers. I have used O.S Rocket and he did a great job. There is even resizing tools you can buy for $39. and resize your own piston/sleeve over and over.:buggy1:

Thanks NC. I saw his service on Ebay. I wasn't sure if he did OS or not but it says he does. And for only $15 I think it's a deal. I did see a person selling a resizing tool for $40, but I have no clue if and how it works. I shot him a mail to try to get some info. We'll have to see what comes of it. I may send my p/s to this guy near Buffalo to have him do it. If his measurments are true, doubling compression is cool with me.

i realized that after i posted.....

thats what happens when ya google lol

Do the graphite pistons actually last that long!?!?! I have seen them on tower and was wondering what those did...

i have had one piston\sleeve PINCHED by rayaracing i just sent out another set yesterday he does a great job on it also.. and the turn around time for him to send it out is usually 2 days tops. the motor i had pinched was a older picco .12 and it ran great for about 1 more gallon but i sold it and the person who has is still running it..

Thanks BigMo.....I'll keep doing my best for you MidSouth guys providing an "exact size" resizing requiring a hassle free rebreakin.

Thanks You also Joey.....Good to hear that Picco is still running strong. In the past year my resizing service has evolved to more a reconditioning service and you will now find a like new appearance when you pull P&S set out of the package. I hope you like even more.

rayaracing, welcome to RCNT! Hey, without giving away your secrets, could you explain exactly what resizing does to the piston and sleeve and what is involved in reconditioning the piston and sleeve. I have been curious about this for some time. How does what you and OS Rocket do that differs from the resizers sold on ebay? Thanks.

Thank You for the welcome

I appreciate the welcome, Thank You!

In reviewing my website http://www.rayaracing.com/ You will find I do not keep my resizing & reconditioning procedures secret. The only thing we do not cover in detail is tools & products used with cleaning, deburring, and polishing process. And that may soon also be covered in a future video and available for down load from our video page.

In a nut shell where RayAracing differs from resizing services and what the guys are doing with trackside tools is we provide satisfactory results with improved surface finish conditions on both the piston and the sleeve, at no extra charge. http://www.rayaracing.com/image.htm

I hope this helps.
