Anyone else having issues running this combo and having the shock tower hitting the exhaust header upon impact? I landed on my tail today and punched a hole right through my header. Looking to avoid this. Other than not crashing. Is there a better header or connection config that i'm missing?

Any help will be appreciated.

Here's a few pics of it on and off the truck after it was f'd up:

wow, looks like ur quick release shock thing punched a hole through ur header. that must have been some hit to do that. tuff luck there. looks like a new header, maby u could rig up a way to cover that hole for now. just as a heads up.. looks like ur one screw holding ur pull start is starting to back out from the look of the picture. u must have some chassis flex for that to happen. i think ur getting too much air... u should get a vid of it while ur bashing.

Actually, I didn't have more than 3 feet under it and I was going relatively slow. Just a bad landing. My brakes were wet and just as it hit the lip, the carb opened up. It was gurgling since I just filled the tank. This almost caused a backflip. But the brakes didn't grab in time to get the nose down.

I'm thinking of cutting off the mounting post on the front side of the shock tower. That should give me anouther 1/2" clearence.

Thanks for the heads up, but I think it's just the view.

Here's a pic of it curing. Will post another when it's installed.

I used cotton wrapped in saran wrap and stuffed it inside to keep the jb-weld from oozing through the hole. I applied a liberal amout of jb and cut a piece of aluminum flashing to further protect it. I then mounted a small hoseclamp over it to keep it tight.

wow, u must use JB weld a lot. this then the fuel tank. never really used JB weld, does it hold up good? ur pretty inventive, coming up with different ideas. good luck

I havn't used it for much that is RC related where I actually depended on it to work. I used it once on my xxx-nt's gas tank. I cracked it a couple times by putting pressure on it with my thumb as I was starting it. That thing is a bitch to take out. So, the last time I cracked it, I JB'd it on the truck.

Other than the gas tank on that, the tank on this and now the header, I've only used it once or twice around the house.

Here's the finished product after fixing, remounting and cutting of my shock tower for clearence:

I think the word your actually looking for Trooper is "cheap". I hate spending money of I don't have to spend. Like with the fuel tank, I was up to my 8th tank @$13 a pop. And for this header, to replace it would be $18. Plus it would take a half hours worth of grinding to get it to fit right with the OS engine anyway. So regardless wether I attempted a fix or not, time would be spent.

Now with a little time and careful placement/re-enforcement, it's fixed for a while at the cost of a little time and a couple bucks worth of stuff I have laying around.
