The first thing you have to do is decide if you are going to grind the fins from the bottom of the block or spend $20 and buy the New Era mount(REV124), which I am using, that works with the TZ. The threaded shaft needs to be cut, leaving 5 threads, so the new clutch nut(traxxas # 4144) will thread on properly.

Transfer the flywheel collet and flywheel onto the shaft and tighten down the clutch nut. The clutch shoes then need to be trimmed so they will fully open without hitting the clutch nut.

Then put on 1 fiber washer, bearing, clutch bell, bearing, washer and E-clip.

I used the HPI # 86164 header but it need to trimmed to clear the pullstart and then bent toward the rear a bit.

Rather than leave the throttle arm in the stock position I moved it down to make the throttle linkage a bit easier to set up.

The T-maxx throttle linkage (Traxxas # 5168) fit just right without having to re-do the brake linkage. You will need to drill a new hole closer to the low speed needle in the arm to allow the carb to open fully.

The throttle linkage needs to be bent and tweeked a little to work properly but it's simple. With the stock controller you will also need to change the throttle to 75/25 and tighten up the brakes a little.

After that it is pretty much done.

Looks like a nice clean install. You have to report back how much of a difference it all makes. By the looks of things, your Revo is TOO clean!!!!

I actually did this for a friend that wanted the OS .18 TZ installed before he even drove the truck. He doesn't want to mess with the Traxxas 2.5R.

I would replace the throttle wire with a threaded end wire and put a ball cup on it and a ball stud on the arm itself.

That's what I did on my OS 18 on my nitro MT. The little hole gets worn over time and gets sloppy.

I've had my throttle set up like this on several of my cars/ trucks and never had them wear out enough to say so. I would be afraid of having the ball cup pop off sometime.

Let me know how that works out for you I have the one for the Revo on backorder and am looking for some feedback

When you get 6 gallons or so through the engine, there's slop. Believe me. It used to wreek havoc on my xxx-nt when I had it with the OS 15 with 6 gallons run through it. It would make the idle change since it would vibrate and would give a little extra deadband when you give it gas.

Using a captured ball cup won't come off. Like a dubro version that has a bolt go through an eyelet. If you put a washer on the bolt, there's no way it will come off unless the arm falls off the engine.

I know this isn't on the engine, but it's the same premise:

I'm using 2mm threaded end wire and these:Dubro Ball Ends

I've had a few OS engines in RC10GT trucks and T-maxxes with 10 gallons on average through them and never had enough wear to say so. You're idea is good but I personally haven't had any prooblems with this set-up.

This is great info! That OS .18 TZ-TX is an animal (or so I've read). If your buddy didn't have the stock radio this would have been a little easier being able to set the end points, no?

Yes it would have been much easier to set-up the throttle if he had a better controller with EPA.

Anyone?
Thinking this is the motor I'm getting so i need to know what else i need to make it work (as far as parts)
