I have a Revo with an OS 18 on it and I am in the process of breaking it in. It has been running in the upper 200's with the HSN backed almost all the way out. I have been told to keep that motor under 300 degrees. I also just put a new carb on it because I thought that the "old" one may have been causing a fuel delivery problem since it seems I can't richen the motor enough. I've had three tanks through it running it easy to break it in. I plan to run several more through in order to break the motor in properly. I am posting to try to figure out why this thing is running hot and what I can do to cool it down because I burnt up my 3.3 motor because of ignorance and lack of a temp guage and I don't want to make that mistake again. Any ideas or insight would be very helpful.

I am not sure as I do not have that engine, but SB engines seem to run a little bit hotter than BBs. Like around 250 vs 210-220. But every engine is different.
What % of nitro are you running, and what type of plug? I have run into heat issues when those aren't compatible w/ each other.

Oh yeah, and all my engines have seemed to run a little cooler and consistent after I sealed up backplates and carbs.

For reference, my OS 21 TM ran best 260-275F, still ran perfect when I sold it 3 gallons later.
The HSN is not going to lower the temps much unless you are actually driving the truck past 1/4 throttle.
Try richening the LSN 1/4 turn and see if it helps.

+1 I would check the fuel tank for leaks (most likely the o-ring is leaking, also recommend new fuel lines, and check exhaust header gasket (evidence of fuel leakage) and Finally the coupling from the exhaust header to the pipe.

As previously suggested, check the fuel tank o-ring and adjust your LSN to be richer.
My 18TM didn't run quite right for about 5 tanks. Was really picky and temps picked up earlier than I was used to. By the time I hit tank 10, it started acting better and the temps started to go down a bit and stabilize.
Post break-in, mine ran around 240 almost all the time even when pushed hard.
