OS .18 cv-rx overheating!!!!

OK I have an os .18 cv-rx on my rc10gt and now it keeps on over hetaing i was goona finish the break in and nowi have this!!! I checked it all i put tge needles back to factory. and everything, I place rtv silicone on the carberator to see if it eas an airleak, I had to tighten the cluch not because it eas loose but now I'm lost, I've checked the fuel lines I think i did everything what the heck is wrong!!! MAn 4 weeks! of beak in!! this sucks. WHY ME.

what else d i check. please I want to do this befoer the end of this weeken cause I'm going out of town and gonna have a beautifull bashing spot!!!

I'm going to the hobby shop tommorow to buy a couple of things but My dad is taking and he has to work so I can't lwt the hobby shop people see whats going on its gonna be aquick in and out, but anyways please Help.

If your overheating,Richen it up. Pending on how hot outside may require you to change the plug out.

I did that I richened it up so much it looks like the needle is coming out I put it to factory setting and tried again and still the same problem!

Alright so,You've reset it, rtv'ed the carb/packplate,you've changed the plug. What % of fuel are you using? Did you try completelly richening it up till it ran like dog $hit?

Well what temp is it running at now? and what temp was it running at when it was like dog $hit?

when it was good it was running at temps at 240 now its 295!!!!!

Alright,Richen it up quite a bit,check your temps,the let me know what it's sitting at.

Well, something is causing it to lean out or run too hard. Have you replaced the O-ring on the fuel tank yet? Does it tend to overheat after half a tank has been run through it? Have you cleaned the air filter and made sure it's oiled? Do you have a fuel line running from the muffler to the tank (pressure side)? Have you had the engine apart and maybe forgot to replace the head shim? Have you checked the little O-rings on the needles to make sure they are in good shape? Are you running a body that perhaps has no vent holes cut into it? Is anything binding on your drive train? Is your brake dragging?

I have a RC10GT and had the same mill with the same problems. Culprit turned out to be the transmission case had warped a bit and caused the internal gears to run into the case, forcing the engine to run harder. When you turn the wheels forward at the same time, everything should turn really smooth with no catching and just enough force to actually turn the wheels. If you have to really spin them hard, something is binding

Got Nitro has the right ideas, but I'm a fan of ruling out the obvious before I go fiddling with needles too much.

I'm thinkin the head on the engine could be off just so slightly. Have you taken it loose? If so, did you tighten it in a star pattern (like you would the tires on your 1:1 car)?

i think heartbreak means 'torque sequence' 1,3,4,2

Precisely, nitro_freak_123. If the head is not tightened using this pattern, the head could possibly leak air once hot.

k we might need more info. first where are you running it on the grass, dirt, sand pit??? or are you doing reall long straight runs back to back? do you have a whole cut in windshield for cooling? assuming your running on the dirt normal situation with windshield hole cut. put your high speed at 2 1/2 out on high speed then put the low speed 1 3/4 out then retune the highspeed only at first. if its still running hot your more likely under geared for your situation. the .18 has tons of torgue so it can pull alot more gearing, i would go up at least 2 teeth on clutch bell that will keep the over revs down a little bit. make sure you have fresh fuel. fuel that has sat in the sun and the methanol to evaporate and that to can cause motors to run hott. i run mc 59 plugs in my o.s. .18's and they run cool. hope this helps

ok heres some info it runs hot when it is idlind not moving and reaches temps of 295. i richened it up alot nothing happened what else do I do?

if its running hot while idleing the low speed is way to lean when its set right the temps should drop slowly while idleing

even though i have never touched it (Low spped needle) could it get leaner by itself?

depending on condition of o-ring yes its possible the vibration takes it in or out. but maybe just a wrong setting out of the box. try what i suggested before
