Os .12 Vs Hpi .18

Another RC'r keeps telling me an OS .12 is more powerful than the new HPI .18 is that true?

whats the hpi rated at? I think the best .12 from OS is the TR and it is rated at 1.1somethinoranother? it equals out to about 1.5hp I think

well...the best i've found is an O.S. .12 TR. OS says that it has 1.3 hp, and the HPI .18 is said to have a whopping 1.5 hp. So I would have to agree with your buddy because OS is known to underate their engines, where others tend to overate. Just my .02

It may have more peak hp, but I doubt it has the low end torque of the 18. hp is just a rating of usable rpm's vs usable torque. The 18's peak hp is probably at a much lower rpm than the 12's is. All the grunt in the bottom end.

So it may be faster overall but would not have the torque of the .18?

It might be. It depends on what the max RPM's are of both engines.
