Hey boys : question about operating temp I know they say not to run the engine over 250F so what do u guys run them at I know every one is different but more courious then any thing ... i may be running mine a little cooler about 190F and it runs quiet well but my out side temp is around 40-50F just would like your opinions on this thanks

190 is to cool, this will create excess wear on the mill. it needs to get up to temp for everything to expand and it to run right. i normally run in the 240-260 range. each engine is different and will run better at different temps. you have to find the sweet spot.

All engines vary. Some run great at 200 and others run great at 275. Running at 190 shouldn't hurt you too bad, but it may be a good idea to put a sock on the head to get the temps up over 200 a bit for cooler days.

thanks guys .. i haven't really fooled with the mixes much but as the weather get a little warmer i have to adjust acordingly so any where in the 200-240 range is a good target to shoot for the motor is still a little fresh and plug temp could make a difference as well

First post, and first thread hijacking attempt... lol (sorry)
Can someone explain to me why my XL K5.9 (on an original savage X frame)engine runs at 320F on my temp gauge?
How can I lower my temp to optimum temp? Its tuned, and runs fine, just not sure if theres a way. Is there a way to lower it without detuning it? Maybe a different glow plug is what I was thinking.

new motor tho broken in an tuned. runs fast no probs just overheatn
