I've watched many videos recently of 5b and 5t's and they are kinda catching my eye more and more every time. Although the 5t i looked at on rpp was a few hundred more than the 5b, whats the main differences that makes them more? mainly the 26 rather than 23cc engine?
Now i want to here from the guys who actually have or have had one or both of the 5's, i am not a nitro fan because of all the tuning, how hard is it to keep one of these tuned? that would kill it for me if it turned out to be a non stop adjustment like my tmaxx' and other nitro's I've driven.
And i know this might be a vague question but what the coolest thing about them? cuz their not really that fast are they? is it just that they are really big?

The main difference that affects cost when comparing the 5B 2.0 and the 5T are the engine and the body along with the additional body mounting plastic and front bumper. That is a $150 body sitting on the 5T.

Tuning is a non-issue on these. Set it and forget it. They are just glorified weed eater engines after all.

They do about 35mph with the stock 26 and can.

30+ minutes of run time per tank. Nuff said.

I want to get a Baja 5T soon, our local track has a couple guys who run them for fun. They mentioned a 1/5th scale track coming soon, if so I will probably jump on the Baja bandwagon.

Here's the guys running on our old track layout. These things take a beating.

man marauder that seems like just yesterday lol! and now you got me wanting my monster gt back, i forgot all about that vid. but now my opinion on the the b and t. i have seen both run and know what they will do. the truck is the way to go in my opinion. it jumps smooth and easy and has the suspension set a little different than the buggy. the t is just smoother on and off the track. now on the other hand the buggy is more for sand of loose dirt and throwing huge 10 foot rooster tails. is a lot harder to control in the air and has alot less ground clearance. both are fun but my opinion is if i were gonna drop that lind of funds on a gasser i would not think twice about getting the truck.;) i mean did you see that vid!!

I just watched the Video, and wow the poor white truck took a beating...I may have to sell a couple of my remotes so i can build one that looks like my sandrail, its gotta have the bigger motor...

A big thanks for sharing that vid

Thanks for the words Rob, reason i asked about tuning is cuz I've seen so many vids of them where they seem like they run extremly boggy and wont open up, i didnt know if that was a common problem or just they didnt have it tuned right.

I sometimes wish i hadnt gotten rid of mine..... It was the best thing i had ever driven..... I want a bl one now.

I really want a 5b, not too much on the 5t's for some reason though. They look ok and all, but I guess I'd just expect a little more ground clearance out of a truck.

Thats cuz its a SC truck, not a MT.

I know, and it's just comparison really, but it's where I see more of the chassis sticking down under the body than I do a Slash, Slayer, SC10, SC8, etc...just bugs me, but to each his own. Like everything else, it'll probably grow on me and if I do get a 5b, I'll convert it over to a T, lol.

Lloyd,

Rob hit it on the head. It's the engine that makes a price difference, but I think the biggest thing that makes it cost more is the body. Like Rob said the body is VERY pricey.

When people ask about the tuning I normally reply back "how often do you adjust your weed eater?". I've got the Baja SS and LOVE it. I get it out everytime I can.

They could be running the original 5000rpm clutch springs, be a tad rich or even be using the original 5B stock can.

8000rpm clutch springs really help it to launch off the line and the original 5B can is very restrictive.

The 5T can opens things up and using a tuned pipe opens things up even more.

Trust me...they open up just fine.

no time to work on it, no room to run it, it was loud as hell, and I'm in the middle of the city.

All the reasons why I haven't bought one yet, it would just sit there until the weekends. :(

I only use mine once a month.

One 5B at the on-road Autocross track in San Jose.

One 5B and a 5T at the off-road track at Thunder Valley.

They are the most fun I have ever had running RC's.

Gutted stock can.

You took out all the stuff that kept it quiet.

If you still had it, the 5T can would give you good power and is one of the quietest pipes for the Baja.

Nowhere near as loud or obnoxious as a Nitro, but probably still not good for the city since when somebody sees you having fun and they are not, they will get their butt hurt.
