i do case modding on occasion as i am a computer tech and thats what computer guys do.
did this for a buddy as he feels he isnt modding inclined..

dvd rw with big window and 5 led strip. so you can see the cd spin and it glows blue

almost finished, just gotta mount the plex and run and solder the lead to the leds

the last two are phone cam pics so there kinda grainy but hey you get the idea..

what you guys think??

i think it came out nice. he has a window in the top of the case so you can see into it and see the rom. now its all purdy lookin..

Nice! I like the look - altho a red LED would have worked nicely too... Did you mod his mouse (if he has an optical) to match?

ohh thats sweet, I've seen similar done to hard drives but they didnt last to long after the mod. no matter how carefull you are some amount of dust gets in & kills them

but that looks very cool! ..id love to see a pic of your case

i went with blue because his case is already white with blue lights so it matches,
and yes i love that dremle. i think I'm about to wear it out, dunno what i would do without it.

yea the hard drived dont last, but the cd roms are ok. i put a window in mine awhile back and havent had any probs. i just didnt put leds in it

yea its for tommy. i think he gonna faint when he sees it.

i used to game, i dont have the ability for high speed any more. i used to play halo on pc for a while, was in a few clans and stuff.. heavy weapons only!! but since i moved i got no high speed avalable, (that being the reason i got back into rc and met all you cool cats!!)

thats my case "stock" and looks like 80 bux plus ship

olds. when the drawer closes the light will be on top of the cd, the laser is on bottom, so the read lens shouldnt even see the blue. plus led glow apposed to focused laser dot, and blue led's red laser. shouldnt have a problem

Here's shots of my kids comps. The silver is an alien theme with green LEDs and my daughter went for the pink/purple with jelly bean window and purple LEDs...

My son's PC had a crap PC Chips mobo in it when I took those pics, has a nice AMD in it now. Getting ready to upgrade my comp soon and I'll give my system's "guts" to my son and put them in his silver case.

We have a "Duke Nukem" action figure in his case too!

You will still get washout if you run the same color. We use laser and LED scanners at my work and they have a hard time picking up black on white when there's "hard" lights on in the area.

It was just a thought anyway...

well i finaly finished it. got the plex in and everything. all i gotta do now is make sure it still works

thats only 6v on the leds. they will hold 12v so it should be quite a bit brighter.
