...of something kick ass here, i can feel it! I ran about 2 1/2 tanks through my savage 25 today (total 5 1/2 tanks since new) and today it started to kick into second gear. Needless to say I about crapped my pants when it did, they damn thing took off like a bat out of hell! However, here are a couple of concerns.

First, after it kicks into second gear it seems like something may be bogging it down and preventing it from reaching warp speed.

Second, when sitting idle I can gun it and it will take off but wont reach second gear if I go that way.

My HSN is actually a quarter turn past the factory recommended minimum setting. I think the LSN is rather close to the mimimum setting as well. I still have smoke coming out of the exhaust when going full throttle, so that is good.

It also seems like sometimes I cannot get it to second gear without "toying" with the throttle. You know, squeeze, release, squeeze, release type thing.

Also, as I was doing some tuning I noticed there may be a connection between LSN and Idle? Seems like when I changed one the other was affected.

Sounds to me like you should pick up a temp gun and tune the engine. Or ajust your shift point.

Your tuning is off and yes the LSN will affect idle. I am guessing that you are too lean. Go back to the factory defaults on both needles and start over.

See if it hesitates when wide open at the factory settings. If it hesitates lean the HSN 1/12th of a turn and try again. When you get the HSN correct it should easily shift second gear when wide open and continue to pull to top speed without hesistation. Do not lean more than necessary. When you get the HSN correct check out the LSN. Bring the motor up to full temps and bring the truck to an idle. Immediately pinch off the fuel line and listen to the motor. The idle should speed up a bit after about 1 full second of idling and then it should try to stall about 2 seconds later. If it stalls right away you are too lean. If it runs more than about 3 seconds after you pinch you are too rich. When the LSN is correct your truck will pull away wide open very cleanly after idling for about 1-20 seconds. After 20 seconds or so at idle it should load up on fuel and bog off the line.

You should do all of your tuning at the same tank level (about 1/2 a tank). The motor will lean as the fuel level drops due to a loss of tank pressure. The Uniflow mod will fix that problem.

I think I might have to try that. I think one mistake I made was adjusting both LSN and HSN at the same time.
