Well, I'm back! I've been without a nitro rc for too long now.....over a year. I had a Savage 25 when they were still new on the market, spent a wad of cash on upgrades and had fun, then sold it to a friend on a whim. Anyway I'm looking to get another monster truck and have been looking at either the T/A MGT or Losi's LST2.........any feedback is really appreciated.

I'll second the Savage X. Just went to a construction site today, launched my Savage X of about a 15 foot cliff without any worry it would break, I landed upside down and only damage done was to the body.

When driving my Savage X I just never worry that what I do to it could break it, which is why I love driving it so much.

If you plan to race, the MGT or Revo 3.3 is probably a better option, but if you plan to bash the Savage X is the way to go no question.

I love my MGT and all I do is bash. The only time I have broken anything is when I ran into my buddy's 1:1 truck tire. And also the time my battery pack died and the MGT ran WOT into a parked tracter and trailer tire. Still, the damage was only a bent shock the first crash and the second was a busted shock tower.

Also, I was thinking about a Savage recently so I was cruising some of the Savage pages and it seems alot of folks don't like the Savage X? I guess because they are still new and are having problems but I figure in time all those will be ironed out.

I still don't know what I'm going to do just yet, I did really like my Savvy, but I did put a lot of extra money into it, probably some that I really didn't need to but still it was a ton of fun. I'm still leaning towards the LST2, but you never know, I think I'll go see my LHS and see what's been the rave there. I know that reguardlesss of which one I get there are going to be broken parts, I just don't want something that is going to let me down everytime I take it out......mostly I'm going to be doing back yard bashing and out to the local gravel/sand pit for some good hill climbing.

THe Savage series are just dang strong! From experience, the savage can take a beating!!! The LST2 not sure but I have the LST1 with aluminum lower arms and axhle/rear hub carriers, Carbon fiber chassis plates, FOC, Hard ano shocks with Tini shafts..the list is long. It can take a dang strong beating. Opinions will fly, but I think parts availability, your budget are factors to work with. If you want to try the LOST Aftershock, it is pretty much an LST without the high end radio. The Savage X has most of the weak points addressed from previous models.

As I said before I really liked my Savage, my wife on the other hand didn't like my spending habbits LOL! Now with a 3 month old baby in the picture hop ups are going to be very limited, does anyone know if the new Savage is still using the 2 spiders in the diffs or did they wise up and go with 4 spiders? Are the diff cases still plastic or aluminum, I still have my jumbo kong tires from my Sav 25 but that was the undoing for my diffs since I had not done the diff upgrade on it and even though those big tires looked killer the were a bit on the over kill side of things, I'm sure my LHS would even do a little swapping with me for the Kongs since they are still in excelent condition. Personaly I'm not into too much jumping, I'm one that just likes to rip up the dirt and conquer the hills, and I guess money wise the Savage's price range is more suited for me as well.....so come on guys, twist my arm a little harder and convince me the Savage is going ot be the right decission. :)

I've got a revo and LOVE it. Its fast and strong.

My dad has a mgt and that is also fast and strong! I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the trucks on the market today.

The newer savages: SS and X version have the Spider mod.

Whatever truck you get there will be something you DON'T LIKE.

I have the Revo 3.3 and the way they send it out from the factory, the shocks are WAY TOO SOFT and the shift point is set out too far..

The MGT, OG version had lame PB looking shocks. The universals had the set screw back out on most of the rides.Roll bar was weak and useless.Bumper extensions are just retarded.

I could go on but you got the picture. If you want the X go for it.

I have a MGT and love it, but I was very seriously considering selling it off for a Savage. After some research, I found that my MGT is nearly as durable as the Savage, so decided to put alittle money into it to make it a basher instead of the racer it is setup as today. But if I had to over again, as far as buying a rig from the start, I would have gone Savage. I rarely hear a bad thing about them, tons of hop ups and you can't stop'em. If you had a Savage before and liked it and are familiar with them, I would go that route personally. Plus they are alittle less $$$ for a new one compared to the MGT. Is that enough twisting? Or how about a few pics to get your Savage juices flowing?

Damn, thanks alot Road Rage, now you got me thinking about getting a Savage again. Just when I was set to keep the MGT. Thanks for nothing.

LMAO!! The more I think about it I'm starting to stray away from the thought of buying the LST, mainly because of the price difference. So looks like I'm gonna go with what I already know and feel comfy with......Savage! I'll probably stil get a few upgrades when I buy it from teh get go such as RRP metal spur and some good cv's.....I'm sure I'll think of a few minor things as well. Thanks, you can stop twisting now......starting to hurt a little

You will Love the savage. There are only a few things you will want to change out, but I have been running my 100% stock Savvy X for a couple of months with no problems.

The Savvy X comes with the 4 spider mod done, and the diffs can be accessed in 6 screws if needed. I have only taken the radio box off once since I bought it, which is a VERY nice thing with the savage.

When you get it, double check the spur gear mesh, as I heard some people got their trucks with a bad mesh, mine was fine from the factory tho.

And be sure to use the rollbar it comes with, as that will save you from scratching the engine. This thing can wheelie from the box, and as annoying as wheelies can be, your gonna do it once on tar haha, and then your engine will be all scratched up.

Any other questions on it lmk.

Is your arm broken yet? lol

Yea..I have to agree with AC48. Your gonna love it. I love my X and I too have had no problem with the spur gear. I did have a problem with the one way bearing but that was do to the roto start gears not meshing right and HPI sent me a new one and some one way bearings free, so can't complain at all about the X or HPI in general. They have been good to me. I think it would be money well spent IMO.

Thanks guys, I have already planned on trying to get the RRP Spur and CB set for the Sav X, along with all around CV's.....Sounds like the roto start still has it's issues, it would be nice if hpi would actually include the reverse mod in the Savage, but I suppose it really isn't that big a deal, how are the stock tires doing as far as traction? I mentioned before I still have the jumbo kongs but man they add some weight and drag down the performance unless you reduce the gearing, I had my 25 set up with a RRP 52t spur and 11t CB which geared it down to 4.72 ratio and killed the speed, but was a real stump puller! Also planned on getting the better servo for steering and maybe some aluminum lower arms, but hey if you guys can point out anything else that would need some attention I'm all ears (I guess eyes in this case LOL). Thanks again for all the feed back, it's nice to actually hear from others that have the different modles of nitros and share the pro's and con's of each.......sorry for the long post!
