ok i have the 4.6 rtr. i cna get all but 1 wheel nut off. I've tried everything. everything except for cutting. thats my last resort. i need to get this off. what do i do.

Are you turning the nut the proper direction?

One side of the Savage has left hand threads and one side has right hand threads.

If you are, try applying some heat using a soldering iron to the nut.

i know that. and tried heat. still wont budge.

Have you used a Power drill to take it off??

tried everything from power drill to vise grips

Try using a wrench with a longer handle for more leverage.

If it still wont budge, it may be cross threaded.

if its cross threaded what do i do

umm i am not shur maby try ur LHS

i really dont want tor drive 30 mins to have to pay to have someone do something that i can do for free

use a 8mm socket and a quarter inch rachet? if that wont get it give up!

why would you even consider visegrips?

I agree with the 1/4 drive socket and 8mm. That's part of my tool kit for the Savvy.
Also, make note, the new Savages do NOT use reverse threading. All 4 wheels are right hand thread now.

I've tried 1/4 drive socket and 8mm. all that did was strip it. thats why i had to use vise grips. and before you ask YES I HAD THE SOCKET ON SQUARELY. rember its only 1 nut that wont come off.

that seems weird that one nut wont come loose....i'm with robmob, its cross threaded.

grab the dremel and a cutting disc and cut the nut off...

Not sure man. you may need to cut it off. And probably rethread the axle. unless it is the nuts threads that are wrecked. then you're good. Hope that helps.

If you dremel into the end of the axle, you can split the nut. You will need to take your time so as to not generate too much heat and melt your wheel.

Your going to ruin your axle and obviously your nut... but you may be able to save the rim/tire. If you keep trying to wrench on it, your running the risk of spinning the hex in the back of the wheel. Did that once... then I had no choice but to dremel the axle since I had nothing to hold on to.

Hold up hold up. There's one last thing to try. My father has a set of get-em-offs (tha's what I call them, dunno the real name) from Craftsman that look like blades. Basically you put it on the nut and press down, then use a drill on it. It cuts into the nut and drills it off. Works like a charm.
