What motor would drop right in a older tmaxx truck that would
1. hook up two the stock ez start
2. drop right in
3. make the truck pull wheelies
its for my little nephew the older motor is blown
thank for the help

THe Trx 2.5 can be a biotch to tune, it's potent but true wheelies are going to require allot of tuning and gearing. I don't know where Traxxas comes up with that "wheelies on demand" crap. Maybe they're vaguely reffering to the fact that it will do a one wheel "wheelie" with relative ease when applying full throttle while turning. It should be a total drop in or might require some type of adapter kit on the older style Maxx.

The SIrio .18 is kick ass (allot faster then the Trx 2.5 but not as fast as some Big BOres) and proven powerhouse. It's also a total drop in but might require a kit for the older Maxx.

Fantom (or maybe PHantom) makes good motors but I'm not 100% if they are "drop-in" like the Sirio using the stock flywheel and clutchbell setup.

As for Wheelies in general, how old is your nephew?? LIke I've said in other threads. Wheelies are a novelty if anything as you can't control the truck when the front wheels are off the ground (actually you can add four wheel steering to your maxx but that's for another thread). If it's for a younger dude, I hope you and/or he has money to replace lots of broken poop after he does "wheelies" right into a wall. SOrry if that sounds harsh but that's the reality for most people. 24/7 wheelies are anything but fun.

FYI......the fact that you can get the car to lift one wheel of the ground is plenty of fun with a 2.5 or more powerfull motor. It's all in the gearing.

Peace

I think on one of these posts someone said there was no mods at all needed to drop in a sirio .18. They are expensive though. I wanted to do wheelies to but these guys talked me out of it.

I have a 2.5 in my tmaxx and it wheelies. but i hate the power plant. won't hold a tune. My nephew is 14. if he breaks anything his parents
allways gives me money to fix it. he is the only kid. I really dont want to mod anything I guess pull start is okay for him

Yeah, This has been discussed in great detail over the net and with RC vets in general. Many say you either get a bad or a good 2.5. Well, I don't think it's that simple...I think I got a "good" 2.5 but I think they're all hard to tune and I don't think any of them will "hold" a tune as you've said. My 2.5 is much more powerfull and easier to tune now that I've added the Sirio - Piston/rod/Sleeve and pipe (go figure..lol) but I still wanna get a Mod'd Sirio .18 for my Maxx.

I geared my Maxx to wheelie and hated it...after 15 minutes its like what's the point...lol.

As for pull starts in general. I'm so freaking sick of breaking them and busting my knuckles on them. Even with great compression where the engine starts up after one or two pulls. I love my EZ start and am very happy that u can use the Ez start with the drop in Sirio .18

Peace

:D

Yes, it should as the actuall system itself that turns the motor over should be the same. The only difference is the EZ-start 2 has a nicer battery starter with more LED indications. I'm not 100% sure on this though as I can't remember what the old style starters on the motor look like.

Peace

They look about the same I have 2 older style motors and gears. The back of the motor is black instead of white. That's the only difference I can see. I see that the sirio is becoming a very popular engine with T-maxxes. I may have mentioned this but I really want one but don't have the $$$. I hate it. I need a job!!! 8-0 :nono: :contract:

Thanks to all that replied. I went with the os cvr-x thank to all that replied. It droped right in only had to cut the shaft:mobile:

Awesome Choice....O.S. engines are tops period.

Peace

I love my sirio .18 on my Maxx but as usual I want more. Just like rear cars. I had a10secons Z. with a 383stroker. I janked that out and now I'm building a 418sb with twin Turbos.

My point is.... You will never have enought power. I love the sirio but id love more for my nitro... maybe next summer I'm gona sell this one and build a bigblock maxx

I don't think that he needs more power. It is pertty quick as it sits now. He is only 14 and its is his first truck. Now for me yea I want allllll the power I can get. I have a acura integra that runs 11.20 all motor. I run it on the street and at the local strip. plan are to maybe go turbo on a prelude block and run boost around 19 psi. Maybe when the inport showoffs hits ur area we can run!
