my engine temp. is getting upto 360-370 and stalls and everytime i richen it i can't hit second gear, i am stuck on what to do!!!!!????? this has been going for about a month, what can i do to get second gear and richen it too?? when i do richen it my temp is around 200 and i can't get into second gear!! iam lost :x :x

I think you might be turning the needle too much at a time.

Believe it or not, 1/32nd of a turn can make a difference.

The good part is, you can richen it and it stays running cool. Temps of 360 concern me. So start with the rich setting where it runs at 200, then lean the High Speed Needle 1/32 or 1/16th of a turn and run for a quarter tank at least. Check temps along the way. It can take a little bit of running to see the change. Trust me, patience is key.

Are you messing with the low end needle at all?

nope not at all, i did a while back but it seems ok

try the slow and patient routine on the HSN. I think you will find the sweet spot.

Like I said, even 1/32nd of a turn can make a difference.

it will not hit second gear if it is too rich, lean it out some and just keep getting the rpms and temp up, it will kick in man. dont adjust the high needle to much man. every savage owner has had a problem like this prolly, i have had it on 3 different ones, its just correction.

I would try a diffrent temp gun if you are not hitting second gear and your temp is over 300 somthing dont add up mabey it is the temp gun

try adjusting your transmission when you have it tuned to about 250-280. the tune on the motor may not be the problem.

Are you temping straight at the glow plug? This will give you a higher temp than what you are truly running at. Try checking at two places: on the side of the engine at the bottom of the cooling head and off to the center of the glow plug. Proper temping is a big part of tunning.

You should just retune your engine according to how it runs, not how it shifts. Once you regulate your temps and tuning, then adjust your shift points. If I'm correct, counterclockwise is earlier shift, clockwise is later shift. First and foremost, consult your manual.

Regardless of engine temp, transmitions will shift according to the shift point settings.
