i just discovered that after a recent crash that i bent both of my shock shafts on one side. (they were bent bad enough where they wouldn't slide in our out. so i took the shaft out and bent them back and now the they seem to be working fine. what i need to know though is what kind of oil i need to replace the shocks with. they are not leaking so they are still good, it just dumped out when i took the shaft out. they are stock shocks.

It's silicone shock oil. Any LHS will have it, if they carry R/C cars. They should know what the stock weight is. You also have the option to go with lighter or heavier oil to dampen the shocks more to your liking.

I'm going to assume you are using the stock shocks.

Once the shafts are bent they will never work properly again. Now would be a good time to upgrade your shocks. If not, get new shafts and seals they are cheap. If you just want to refill the shocks and take your chances use a 30-40wt silicon shock oil.

I like the result of 50wt in my stock shocks.
You can use what you want.
My experience shows me that with STOCK T-Maxx shocks, 50wt will make the caps blow like the cork out of a champaign bottle.

Its a deferent story once you upgrade.

There are several aftermarket solutions available but thats not the context of this thread.

Until we hear back from the thread originator we have no idea what his intentions are.

A fairly cheap thing to do would be get the Ti- coated shafts and use 35-40 weight shock oil. This should set would up pretty good. If you change the wieght in one set of shock you should change all of them.

right now i am planning on just reusing the stock shocks until i can find a good price on 4 new ones. i know that it isn't good to reuse them after the shaft is bent but i figure that they are bent anyway so i might as well get a little more use out of them. will it be fine to take from other corners to replace the bent ones when i get new ones. what i plan to do it put the new shocks on the outside corners of the maxx. thank you guys for all of your help.

Yeah, reuse the unbent ones for now, and either rebuild, or replace the bent ones. Use the same wt oil in all four front, or back, or all eight doesn't matter. Just don't mix between the front, or back, as you want them to be somewhat even. Heavier oil = more dampening, which pretty much means beefier. At least that is the way I see it.
