I've been doing a .21 swap in my old pro .15 Tmaxx for a while now and a few different people have been asking me how its been going so I thought Id post up a few pics to where I'm at. I've been so frustrated with it the last couple weeks I havnt touched it.. All I basically have to do is drop in the tranny, repair my factory defective pullstart, and hook up the throttleand steering linkages and I should be good to go. it just all seemed to be one thing after another, which made me super frustrated. But hopefully Ill get her done within the next week or so. ( I wouldnt place any bets..lol) But anyway, heres where I'm at...

looks nice did you do any upgrades to the trans? i just bought a .26 picco for mine with a ths pipe and a nova head but i still need a conversion kit I'm heading toward the xtm for 125.00 but i think i need to do some mods to the trans

Yes you will need to do some work to the transmission / slipper setup.
Choose a company and a metal compound and install a FOC. Use all the gears and shafts that company has to offer. Get an (E)-Maxx RRP or equivalent double slipper kit. The .21s have a lot more HP and the E-Max slipper setups are designed to help keep the drive train damaging torque away from the transmission. You should be able to near bullet proof your slipper / transmission for under $150.00.

This is what happens if you dont.

I'd also recommend going with a 1/8 cb/spur combo as opposed to keeping the maxx stuff and trying to upgrade it. RC-Solutions sells a buggy spur that you can mate up with just about any buggy cb. If you don't have a buggy or a savage, you will see why they work better once you buy it. The shoes are twice as wide as maxx shoes which allows them more contact area. A much better setup IMHO. The RC Solutions spur is also narrow wich allows for chassis flex with out eating up the spur and cb.

I ran RRP's steel trans parts with no wear after 3 gallons of fuel with a OS 21 RG (1.8hp) and one gallon of an Omega 21 Comp(2.4hp).

looking pretty nice andy.you already did your tranny with rrp gears didn't you.and foc..

Go with the steel gears not the aluminum ones,I've already toasted the aluminum set.

yeah I did a complete steel RRP gear set with a steel Foc kit.

Them pics are awesome eddy!!...lol

Thanks for the props and the pointers fella's! KEep em coming!

XTM I got a whole conversion kit that included the chassis, pipe, cvds, filter and a few other things. It was like $130 for the kit at hobbypeople.com
