If I were to drop said picco .26 into a stock savage 25,how well will the savage handle the difference in H.P.?Will the stock spur gear strip as soon as the fuel is applied? Will it be too much for the tranny? Will it sling the dog bones out from under the truck?I realize there is no "for sure" answer,I am hoping some of you out there have done this & know what to watch/have on hand for breakage/repairs.It will have an HPI 16t heavy duty clutch bell & an HPI motor saver airfilter as the only other mods.
I am new to this forum & the nitro sport,so please be patient with me & if I have posted too long or w/o enough info. I am sorry & will try to remedy the situation.
Thanks in advance for any info. given & that info. which I have already gotten by lurking in the shadows observing your writings.:lurk:

There are a few things you should watch if you install that engine. If you don't Have HD dogbones, get some. Or, even better, get CVDs. Your hex hubs on the wheels could strip. The tranny should be fine though. Also get some center universals. As long as you have a good gear mesh the spur gear should be fine. Good luck!

yea ac48 is right, make sure you mesh is right or you will mess up everything, i bought a $40 spur gear/cb and stripped it the sec i pulled on the throttle, man was i pissed but i made sure next time that did not happen. for the dogbones i believe they are fine, iam running my stock savage .21 dogs on my savage .26 and they have not had a problem yet!

If you don't have the 4 spider mod in the diff you might want to do it first. If not then be prepared to loose some teeth in your diff along with your pinion gear. I'm dropping a mach 26 in mine later this week when it comes in and I've already beefed up my drivetrain so I'm in good shape.

I don't have the picco - yet - but I can tell you that the stock diffs are nothing to write home about. I'd listen to puffnstuff's advice and do the 4 spider diff mod. Plus, you can put some diff lock oil in there while you're at it and have a beast of a climber.

yea i did the 4 spider mod it was really easy but is a pain in the ass becuase you got to take the whole car apart! :batman:

Man I always keep 2 extra spur gears on hand just for the case of it stripping. I have the picco 26 and everything has been fine for me. You will probably eventually want to upgrade to HD Bones and output cups but it's not necessary right away. Stripping wheel hexes that is a new one on me they should be fine. You will probably need to make a transmission adjustment though. Late

Change your bell clutch to a 15 or something higher is you have anythng lower it will be a wheelie master
