nothing like an nhra event to get the blood pumping ... was at my first one last year in joliet for the car quest finals in october when they broke all sorts of national records due to the cold front that moved in the night before.. was just awesome .... besides the fact that we were sitting in my brothers works skybox ... one of the coolest things i have ever seen ... was supposed to go last weekend to it but he couldn't get hands on tickets for it ... will be at the fall event though ...

Nice pics! Some of those look pretty close. I'm guessing they allow the public to get that close? Or did you have a special pass?

Nice pics TJ. I plan on going to the Summer Slam in July

yea thats the way it is here (houston) but i thought it was a special thing (they advertize it that way) "sunday sunday sunday NHRA DRAG!!! EVERY TICKET IS A PIT PASS!!!!!!!!!!"

Nope, that is the way it is at all NHRA races.

It's like that at all Englishtown races, NHRA, AMA or imports. You get to meet & talk to the drivers & see the pit crew at work up close. Last year I got to talk to Lisa Kubo & another driver Tran.

Nope... Like NC said, $45 (General Admission) gets you in, free to roam both sides of the tracl, from begining to end.. The left side is where most of the BIG names were pitted.. You can litterally walk up to the pit area, & stand less than 5ft from the cars, while there working on them. You'll see that in a couple of the pics above. I am officially hooked... I'm already planning trips to Maple Grove & Reading Pa. lol The power in some of these cars is just UNREAL.. The pic below, will give you an idea of just how close you can stand.. BUT, ya better have earplugs....

Here's a quick video I took with my Digicam of 2 Top Fuel Funnycars.. It's hard to see, but the one on the left got a bit sloppy about 1/2 way down, & almost hit the other guy.. People were clapping at the end because he was able to straighten it out.. Where I was taking the vid, you get blasted with about a 90 degree wind and the sound is just about deafening... lol
Turn up your speakers for this one, & you'll get a good idea of the power..

Very cool pics, nice vid too man! I am so jealous, I would have loved to have been there. It's been a few years since I have been to a big NHRA event. I used to hit the Gatornationals every year.

Here's the only shot I was able to get of the Top Fuel cars leaving the line... lol
Damn digicam wasn't fast enough... lol
