I'm currently running Top Fuel 20% in my GT2. Now I've seen allot of ppl talk about Odonels fuel so I priced it out at my LHS. A gallon of 20% Top Fuel is costing me $26, Odonel's is $17 a quart. IF I made the switch to Odonels, would there be a difference in fuel economy? I get about 10-15 mins of run time with what I'm using now (75cc tank) and for the life of me can't figure out why Odonels is so much more.

Thanks

I use Top Fuel, but I've heard that O' Donnel's is way better. I believe if you switch, you'll have to change your carb settings.

Oh there's no doubt that I'll have to re-tune. I'm just curious if I'll gain any fuel economy and why it's $68 for a gallon ($17 a quart) vs only $26 for the Top Fuel.

normally you can get oddonels in a gallon for about the same as top fuel it has less oils and burns a little better and smells far better dont think anything will change via ur fual economy

hmm...so Odonels has less oil than Top Fuel? Not sure that's a trade off I'm willing to make. I'm happy with the power I get from Top Fuel and if it has more oil then it's helping to keep my engine from breaking.

yeah top fuel IMO has to much odonels has more power and still keeps the engine in the safe range

Not to get off which fuel is bettere but I have been useing Trinity Monster 20% the purple stuff and it seems to hold a good tune and has been very consistant from one bottle to the next wether I buy a quart or a gallon and it is a much better deal to to buy it by the gallon at $26 VS. $11 for a quart, but as far as top fuel I haven't really heard any thing good about it and I have heard nothing but good things about both the Trinity and O'donnels...just my 2 cents worth...

Yeah, i've heard the same that's why I was wondering. However, my LHS doesn't carry trinity :(

I'll second Trinity. It's all I've been using for the last 6 years or so. Runs great, and tunes fairly easy. Plus, my engines last a fairly long time on it. I'd recommend switching to the O'Donnels if you can't get Trinity. Anything is better than that Top Fuel stuff.

Just set your needles back to factory and lean back down from there... You'll be alright.

I never was a fan of Top Fuel, I always ran Trinity MHP or Byrons race blend. IMO the Trinity and the Byrons are easier to tune with and hold consistent.

well the LHS opens in 5 1/2 hours. I need to go there anyhow to get a new rear shock tower (cracked mine while wrenching on it) so I'll ask if the can get either the gallons of Odonels or the trinity and go from there. I still have about a quart of the Top Fuel 33% and a little more than 3/4 gallon of the 20% Top Fuel left. I'll run the 20% off before I buy another gallon. I now use the 33% for cleaning, LOL.

I have switched to Odonnels and never looked back, its a great fuel. As far as high oil content when I first got my rig and didn't know anything my LHS gave me heli fuel to use in my truck and that has a TON of oil, believe me when I say more is not always better!

I was reading somewhere (and now I can't remember where) that with the new Top Fuel Power Plus you only have to perform 'after-run' maintenance when storing your rig for long periods of time. It said that you could leave the fuel in engine from week to week and it would not draw moisture. That sounds almost scary to me. I love wrenching on my truck, but the after-run part gets old, especially if I run it a few days in a row.

I thought you dont have to use after run oil unless your not planning on driving for a few days? If I know that I'm going to run again tomorrow I dont use it, otherwise if I know it's going to be say 3 days or more, then i put a few drops in.

I wasn't sure about how long you could leave the fuel in the engine, so I was pretty much doing it everytime I ran it. If that's the case I'll be alot happier not doing the after-run so much. :)

I never leave fuel I'm my engine or fuel tank. I'm not worried so much about moisture as I am about the nitro evaporating out.
As for Top fuel, I'm no fan of it at all.:puke: You will be much happier with the O'Donnels. I ran it for about 12 years with no issues.
I run Sidewinder Race blend now(2 years) & will never look back. My engines run cooler, more power, longer run times & it has after run additives in it. No need for after run oil at all! I've gotten over 10 gallons on some engines before a rebuild.

You could use all that extra top fuel as weed killer or some thing like that, LOL!!!

LOL...true! I just got back from my LHS and they do have Trinity 20% for $27 a gallon. For only a dollar more than what I'm paying now, I think I'll make the change to Trinity. As for Odonels, I'm waiting for a call back to tell me the per gallon charge cause they only stock quarts.

I was wondering,I run 20% monster horsepower Trinity fuel and it says it has rust inhitors in it already.Do I have to use after-run oil also.New to the RC world. Thanks in advance
