O.S. V-Spec engines

Is this the first "V-Spec" engine O.S. has sold in the U.S.?

Because I am thinking of buying one for my TT S3 as a second motor for racing and I want to be sure I get the latest version if there is more than one. The packaging box leaves of the last two characters of the model.

The o.sv-spec max is the new one. Thats the one i have and the only i have ever herd of.

I've heard that they've had a few problems lately with premature wear.

Yea I've heard they have premature crank bearing wear, they say to replace them with a new kind, can't remember the company, before you even run it.

the vspec has had bearing problems. i have 2 gallons on mine with stock bearings. it seems to be, you either get a good one, or a bad one. Great Planes has been pretty good about taking care of this issue for people even though there is no warrenty on the engine. many have shipped it back with bad bearings, and either got it back with new ones in, or an entire new engine.

There was recent thread about this issue. Cure appears to be change to Boca or Acer bearings.

the V-spec does not come with a one-way, it is only availible in bump start.

i have a2 v-specs and ine has over a gallon and the other is fairly new. i will not spend 280 and then replace the bearings. if they wear out early then greatplanes should take care of it if not it would be the last os i bought. i think they will take care of it if it is a common problem.

i replaced my bearings with bocas, both bearings + shipping where about 47$, the way i saw it was i already spent 290$ on the motor, if i didnt change the bearings it was risking just wasting that money, or having to mess with trying to get a new one thru the people i purchased it from or O.S.
its absolutly true a engine in that price range should be rock solid out of the box, but if spending 47$ more will make me able to run the V-spec no worries, itll be worth it as i love how the engine performs, tune and powerwise.

btw, my original bearings were still fine at 1 gallon, i changed them anyway since i had my engine torn down for regular inspection.
