Just pirchased a freshly pinched and rebuilt .21 OS for my buggy. 3 port with a turbo plug. The engine has been properly broken in by the previous owner.

Engine runs like a raped ape but wonmt stay running after hitting the brake to corner. When dead stopped it idles proper. My only guess at this point cause its a turbo I can't run my 20% nitro. I'm assuming he broke it with a 25% or 30%... could that be it? Can I run 20 with a turbo plug or does it have to be 30%?

Again its not the tune. The engine is tuned perfect. Plenty of compression and no leaks.

Any ideas or suggestions guys?

Sounds like a classic issue where the linkage and idle setting need tweaking.
That would be the first thing that I would look at.

Does it happen when it's sitting there at idle (not moving) and you hit the brake?
You can also visually check this when it's not running by popping off the ait filter and hitting the brake.
The carb should not close any further and the gap should remain open to the proper idle gap.

No when its sitting there and idling it idles fine. Linkage and throttle is adjusted. When idling I hit the brake and it stays idling. The engine surges which is a good sign I'm assuming. It only happens when I hit the thrrotle and then hit the brake when I want to corner.

I took it to one of my buddys at Hobby People and he said the idle is fine, engine is tuned perfect but he blames the fuel. He's assuming the 20% nitro I'm running is no good for the plug. He also said the guy might have broken it in with 25% or 30%....

Remember that you need to adjust the idle with the brakes ON. That way when you hit the brakes....it won't close off the carb. Definitely sounds like a linkage/idle screw issue to me. Only other reasonfor it to die when the brakes are applied is a dragging clutch shoe or something along those lines...busted bearing....busted spring...etc etc etc

The engine should NOT surge when you apply the brakes. Sounds like your idle gap is getting closd off and it's running lean when the brakes are applied. Have you properly set your servo end points on this as well?

Servo has been adjusted properly. Idle is adjusted properly. My throttle does not close more when I hit the brake. The throtthe is open about 1 1/4mm when the trim is all the way down.

Is it possible that the glow plug or rather this engine requires higher percentage nitro??? If it is, is there a way for me to run it on 20% and get a good tune out of it or have the engine running to its full potential?

Fixed...I guess my tune wasn't as good as I thought it was. Was running way too rich. Spittin oil at idle that's why it didn't let me adjust the idle screw...

Started from the oem setting and worked my way through a tank. At the end of the tank I had her running between 220 and 240 (what previous OS .21 owners recommended) and screaming.

Thx for all the input guys.
