Hey guys, I am buying that engine, it is ordered and paid for. My (SS) is beging be for a new powerful motor. I am going to put this engine in the car in a week or so. It is going to be bump start (starter box), and I know they are reallyy good to tune and are very strong and reliable engines, but do you think it will do good in heat racing ( shorter track) with 49 & 45 spurs and 17 & 21 pinion?
My local hobby shop has told me it will be a fast car (acceleration) with thoughs gears, and I know it will, but there is a guy at the track that *claims* (not to sure if it is true) it is a poop setup. He often blows a lot of smoke, so I would like your opinion on this motor and setup if you have tried it.
Thanks in advance.
Peter

somers - the cv-r is one of the most potent race engines in the world today. it is designed to be great on the touring car circuit, and is extremely powerful in the acceleration dept. take a look around, and u will see that more than 1 out of every 2 people at the race will probably be using it. great choice!

Stick with the stock gearring out of the box. Run at the track, then decide what you want to do. You might be surprised.

As far as your buddy at the track goes, ignore it. Chances are he has an Italian mill in his ride. Which dont get me wrong, is probably KICKASS, but, some people are just die-hards for them and think everything else is poop.

Its almost like the Chevy/Ford, American/Foreign car debate

You will be very happy with the mill!

Hey guys, got the engine today, and it is in the car. I had the really hard acceleration gear in it with the HPI .12 SS engine, and the car still didn't top put on the track.
That is the highest ratio gear I can put in the car from HPI and I win 7 out of 10 races all the time with the SS motor.
I just wanted a better engine in it. I am going to the track tomorrow. The OS has all round more power.
I will post results tomorrow.
Thanks for all the replies.
That is what I was expecting you guys to say.
Thanks again
Peter

Hey guys, went out to the track this morning and I put the stock gears back in. (went to a different track).
The track was very high speed and it needed more gear in it.
Down the end of the straight away, the car got up to 48mph with the HPI SS motor.
I brought the car in and put the OS in it and it needed more gear still because the engine has way more power than the SS.
I ran 56mph with a little gear left to go.
I am so pleased with the O.S CV-R.
Awsome motor, and well worth the wait for it to come in from the states.
Thanks guys
Peter

say is that engine avaliable with a pull start? I just dont care for starter boxes, and I'm running the same car.

Yes it does, it is the CV-RX, the X denotes that it is a pullstart.

I thought those were 2 totaly different engines with different hp ratings and different RPM ranges and torque levels?

Thanks for the link it was really helpful, I was already considering the engine for my MAXX, I may have to order 2 of them!!!
