RC Driving Style
  1. Bashing
  2. Racing
I love both of my tmaxx. Starting to wonder though. 3 engines, none run right. Newest doesn't even have 1 gallon through it. 2 passes wot and I'm at 300.
What am i doing wrong.

Your either too lean or its got a leak in the fuel system or exhaust or both. Plus if you run wot all the time its gonna overheat anyways. These engines are not built to just run wide open constantly in case this is your driving style. Short wide open burst and turns and jumping. Pretty much what you have on any track. If tuned right the engine will begin to cool back down at idle.

There are a few tuning guides on here, ERCM has one that really helped me figure things out. Lemme see if I can find it really quick.

Would a revo 3.3 or savage xl 5.9 be better for pushing to its limits. Once i get parts for my .21
That will deffinatly give me all the power and speed i need for now and i wont have to run wot.

No 2 stroke engine should be run WOT continuously anyways. Sure for 5-10 second blasts once in a while, but even with a perfect tune running WOT continuously you're asking for problems.

I really dont run wot all the time. Make a wot pass let off throttle then idle down then repeat. I guess i need to let engine rest a little more between passes.

Sorry, I misunderstood. :)

There's nothing wrong with what you're doing. If you have no mechanical issues(air leak/binding somewhere) and you're tuned right you should be able to run all day tank after tank without overheating.

I would follow ERCMs tuning guide directly to start with. It's an unreal guide. If you still have troubles then look to an air leak. Fix that and return to the guide. :)
