My kid just burnt ESC in E-Zilla. LSH here recommends to use Novek brushless system, using only 1 motor (he didn't tell me which model). Would that worth to replace with more expensive gear just for one motor? What performance should I be getting? I know it would run longer. Any other system worth looking at or just replace the ESC and live with it. I'm not an electric guy. I bought it for my 6 year old son. Thanks for any comments!

Honestly, if it's just for your 6 year old you should just replace the esc.

The Novak Brushless system would probably be way too much power for him to handle. Not to mention the strain it will put on the stock drive train.

I think I'm the only one here that has an E-zilla other then you.
All I can say is its probably going to be more trouble then anything else.

The reason is three fold.

Look at the cost. An ESC V/ an new brushless system. I dont think you will find a system for the Zilla for under 200.00

Power. The Zilla wont handle all the power of a brushless. Its just not built well enough. You will be replacing drive-train parts in no time at all and often after that.

Your son is 6 years old. I'm sure hes the best 6 year old driver in the world but the additional power poses a health risk to anything within a mile of him. Full throttle is not an option with the brushless. The first time he guns it its going to take off like a bat out of hell and wont stop till it hits something larger then it is, or it will just power flip on its lid.

Hope this helps.

OK, it makes better sense to stick with the stock then. It stock esc costs around $95 here. I found the novak hi voltage system for $275. I have replaced the diff and the shafts many times already with the stock. I'm using intellect 4200 batt. I think I'll use no more than 3300 to force my kid to stop before he burns the esc again after the replacement. Thanks robmob and FastEddy!

do the 4200 batteries really make that much difference to 3300 ? i got out of the sport/hobby before 4200 cells were being used. if they are that good, I'm going to have to get some.

even a decent 3300 cell will be better than what came stock on my esavage.

fasteddy, people on other boards are using Emaxx half shafts, drive shafts, and some trans gears to reduce breakage with brushless, they say they dont have any problems now (and theyre using monster gt size tires/wheels too, not our junky bajas). thats what ill be doing when I'm ready for brushless.

I'm using a set of 3800 (Sport Pack) and its a great improvement over the packs that came with it. I'm getting about 1/3 more runtime and much more power. I just ordered in a set of 4200 7 cell packs. If the ESC hold out I'm sure ill see a huge improvement in power and runtime over the packs I'm using now.

Would you be kind enough to either post or PM me links to the forum/s where you are getting your E-Zilla mod info. I'm in need of doing some upgrades.

yeah ill find the link and PM it to you, i dont know the rules on posting links to other forums on here.

yeah if your ESC holds up you shuold be good to go with some 4200 packs, will a 7 cell pack fit in the Ezilla/savage battery holders stock?

ahh whatever, ill just post the link here . http://ezillacomm.forumsplace.com/ its an alright site for some stuff, but i think its euro based.

its got some good mods in the chassis and drivetrain sections. drivetrain is what we need most.

No,
I ordered a set where the 7th battery is mounted on the side of the pack. I will cut a space in the holder so it will work. I may be able to mount the 7th cell to the inside but don't know for sure.

Its fine to post a link on the forum for requested info. Never know who may need the same info down the line.

Thanks!

Nice site!
Thanks a million.
I have only been reading for about 5 minutes and have picked up some great tips.

yeah I'm really looking forward to doing the emaxx half shafts. as far as the bevel gears, i dont know really waht the point of it is, are the diffs bad in the zilla/savvy?

i see what you're talking about for teh 7th cell, that should work out nicely.

i havent signed up on zillacomm.com yet but I'm thinking about it just because there are so many members, and i think you and i are about the only ones on here with them. hopefully that will change.

I joined up and made a post about my stuck servo saver.
The forum looks like it has some extremely dedicated and detailed members.
I'm looking forward to beefing up the Zilla this winter.

I road raced it this past season for a few heats and had a lot of fun. I'm going to get it ready for next season.

i just took mine out in the rain ... haha.

this thing is a blast, i was driving it in the parking lot/back yard of this law building or something like that, they didnt even care, a few people on their way in stopped to watch. some people were looking out the windows.

if i were driving a nitro, i would have had the cops called on me

Thanks for the link supernitro17. Like fasteddy said, I get benefit with the link also. The reason I think I want use less mha batteries is that my kid will not stop until the batts run out. And I hope the shorter run time would help prevent esc getting burnt. I didn't replace my esc, I have an electrician look at it and he just replace somepart in there which cost me only 14 US dollars. But from the supernitro17's link, the brushless came back in my head again. Oh No!

yeah brushless is awesome...

for a young kid though, its really fast.

have you guys seen the brushless converted LST2's yet ?

fastest trucks I've ever seen.

Bithed was saying he converted his Hellfire to a brushless system. Haven't seen it yet but it sounds good.

Brushless for the kid may be a great reason to drive his truck more. Sounds like dad has been bit with the bug :D
Looks like you will need to get him a hockey goalies uniform for X-Mass so he can go drive it as well.
