Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, ect. but...

I got about $400 in gift cards & money to go to the hobby store. I'm currently looking at a few things and realize I don't have much to choose from...thats where you guys come in.

I might be going to the hobby store tomarrow. I want to get my nitro and either break it in(RTR) or start building it(Kit). I don't care if it's a RTR or a Kit, but it has to be a truck. I am currently looking at the following:

1.) Nitro Rustler( Okay truck, cheap and can get everything I need with a little extra to put in the bank).
2.) MT2 RTR ( Another okay truck, everything I need just scraping it)
3.) MT2 18SS ( Good truck, but I'm not sure if I can get everything I need with $400)

If any of you have a good idea for a good, durabal truck that is in the $0.00 - $400 range, but keep in mind I need to buy accessories( Batterys, Chargers, Fuel, all that jazz.)

Thanks for even looking at this and thanks in advance for any advice. I know there are so many questions like this, but most of the topics don't say or have what I want information wise.

Thanks again,
Todd

I would save a few more bucks and get a Savage or Even a Revo. (Imo Savage). The Savage will run ya about $400, but youd have to save for the Fuel, Glow ignitor and glow plugs, Roto battery and charger. But in the end youll have alot better truck that youll be happier with. I guess it depends on what your gonna do with it. (Above was if your just gonna be a neighbor hood basher. If ya wanted to race, ya could get set up nicely with a Rc10Gt with a few goodies. Out of your 3 choices Id go with the MT2 18 though.

i looked at a savage, but I would just put semi street tires and lower it. Thanks bro, any other cars would be good too. About the RC10Gt, would I be happy with that just for a neighborhood basher or just for racing?

what the hell would you do this for??? Sounds like lowering and putting low pros on gravedigger, just doesn't make sence.

Rc10gt's are 2 wheel drives, but are still used alot for bashers. There pretty reasonable in price and theres TONS of hopups available for them. Plus with this, youll always have the option for racing if ya choose to down the road. What exactly is your terrain youll be riding this in? Ya looking for mud, pavement, grass, packed dirt, anywhere..etc?

The reason I said that is because if I got a savage, with my terrain( neighborhood(grass, street, retention pond)) I would lose performance with it all the way up and with those huge monstertruck tires. Thats great for dirt and stuff, but I couldn't use a savage to it's full extent.

I think I'm going to the hobby store tomarrow to get my RC10GT. I know to get the following: Rechargable glow starter, extra glow plugs, gallon of Blue Thunder 20% or something like that, fail safe, Rechargable 5 hump RX pack w/ charger, threadlock, hex drivers, extra airfilter oil, a new and sharp exacto knife(I had one but It kept getting stolen from me to peel tape off the walls after painting and it got dulled and I couldn't use it for my plane anymore.) and a small flathead to tune with. I don't know any good aftermarket parts or anything, suggestions would be good.

It's a thunder tiger .15 engine...I can always upgrade to a .18 OS or something so It doesn't really matter to me at this point. I also like the RC10GT because it has a pull start instead of those stupid roto-start things. I can learn on the .15 and always upgrade, and I doubt I'll get into racing anytime soon so no...

I would day if you can't get any more than $400 its between the MT2 and RC10GT. I would say the MT2 would be the better basher, but either truck is great for what you want. If you could drive both thats the best way to tell. At least take a look at both trucks at your LHS and see which looks better to you. Both have a .15 engine, but the Thunder Tiger is probably a bit better of the two. The MT2 has got the 4WD. The RC10GT is probably quicker and nimbler but the MT2 can probably do rougher terrain with its 4WD. Good luck with your choice, you should be happy with either.

I know you kinda have mind already set on the rc10gt but i converted my savage to a pullstart with no problem at all.

Have you tried to look into EBAY? Its risky but ask the right questions and you may find what you want! Or do you want all new stuff? Not a bad idea still just shop around for better pricing. Ask Bruce here on the forum, RUSH RC. I have dealt with him many times as well as many other members.

well...if you buy from a LHS, you'll be able to return it and they'll be happier that you bought from them and that they'll be more helpfull. I also got $120 in giftcards to the Hobby Store too...

True but you can also use those for upgrades...

$285 + $120 = $400 +/-. And i'm looking back into the MT2 because I think my dad would loan me the money.

Ask Bruce of RUSHRC here. He is one of our Forum sponsors. He may be able to hook you up!

Yeah, at least run it by bruce. I know my LHS is retardedly overpriced! ($35.99 for a gallon of Trinity Fuel, $31.99 for a Proline Dodge Ram body etc.)

my hobby stores not that bad its about $22.99 for a gallon of Blue Thunder anyways, none of you get what i'm saying
