Hey guys. Just wanted to give ya'll a little heads up in case I am not here the next couple days. Our farm was jacked this morning. Tack room and horse trailer were broken into as well as the pump house and my shop.

The good news is none of the horses are missing and the Ford F-250 hauler and the trailer are still there. The bad news is we lost eight saddles including three show saddles--one of which was a $8000.00 trophy saddle that my mom had won. There were also some training rigs stolen and even my mom's and sister's English saddles. Of course all the show halters, head-sets, bridles, and bits are gone too. My farm tool box is gone along with all our shovels, post hole diggers, hammers, saws, etc. Pretty much cleaned us out. Didn't take any feed though!

So anyway, it isn't gonna be pretty for a while. We are insured but it will be a while before we recover.

Just thought I would fill ya'll in.

Cody

BTW--Thank goodness my Polaris is at my buddy Paul's house or it would be gone too. I took it to his house Friday!

Wow man, and it sounds like things that money wouldn't replace. That's terrible to hear. Guess they're lucky you didn't catch them around and introduce them to the Mini-14 Ranch. What I don't understand is...those are high profile items, you WILL recognize them if they ever surfaced. When that day comes, I do not feel sorry for the bastards.

Good luck with this man, terrible news to face indeed.

You are correct. We spent the day hitting all the flea markets, feed stores, and tack shops. I am wondering if the stuff didn't head to Mexico. The sheriff's dept said we are the third place to get hit this month. Same M.O.--get the tack and tools.

I'm on it.

Wish there was somthing we could do to help ya out. Just let us know.....

Thanks, James. Like I said, we are insured. I am going to head down there after midnight and check things out in case they come back for the stuff they missed. The AR-15 and a SigSauer 226 9mm will be my company tonight...

awww i hate a thief. we need some of that middleeast punishment! loosing hands and what not instead of a slap on the wrist, if they get caught at all.

hope you recover your stuff, sounds like some of it is rare and wouldnt be hard to find if someone was tring to get rid of it. i feel for you man, been in your shoes. the stress inflicted is almost as bad as the crime commited.

It's hard to say if that stuff went across the border, considering the risk that was taken I'd look really hard at people I knew. I just find it hard as hell to believe anyone would risk their life for these items. I mean, I know it's a lot of stuff, but I would bet money that if I went on a farm poking around without permission I'd be introduced to a firearm really fast.

Were you out of town when this happened?

Anyway, I've got a lot of people in my family that have show horses and if you had pics I'd share them with them and let them know what happened. If for whatever reason they made it to Southern KY or West/Mid Tennessee I'd probably know about it.

Were you out of town when this happened?

My grandfather lived on the farm. We live about nine miles north of the place. Since my grandpa died two years ago the house has been empty. 35 years down there and this is the first problem we have ever had. The perps had to have been watching the place and knew we were coming and going. I am sure they saw some of the tack come in and out as we saddled up. I bet they were shocked when they broke in and saw all the good, high-dollar tack just sitting there.

You know the funny thing--in all the years my grandpa lived there we never had locks on the out-buildings and he never locked the house's doors. When he died we put locks on everything including the gates. But, that just stops kids and ill-prepared thieves. These guys brought bolt cutters to cut the locks...

So Sorry to hear about this...People like this need to be taken care in a different maner.....Knee caps broken beyond repair so that can't take from the people who WORK HARD for there poop....

If there is anything we can do we will

Your well wishes and support are all that is needed. I will try to catch 'em. My sis is real observant and gave us and the sheriff good descriptions of two vehicles that have been seen in the area that are not normally there. One is a white TransAm that kept driving by Friday and the other is a two-tone Blue Ford F-150. So, I have some vehicles to watch out for. Our farm is at the end of a dead-end street and we don't get a lot of traffic so someone new driving around kinda sticks out...

Farms these days are going high tech. You'd be surprised how well a game camera would have worked in your favor in this situation. They're cheap, work only when you need them to, and can be hidden well. Just food for though man, it's a changing world...locks and guns apparently don't stop thieves anymore.

An inexpensive way to watch while yall arent around is a game camera. One of the motion capturing cameras for hunters, at the end of the driveway........

We used one to watch a marijuana crop that we were trying to find the owner of, when personel was short handed. And yea, it worked, and we caught them.

Yep, I rode on an investigation where we used one as well. They're great for key low-traffic areas.
