I posted in the introduction section and was recommended the sc8 for realism....definitely a cool vehicle for sure but the wifey won't go for it and it is a pretty penny to get into the hobby. Now I've turned to Ebay after a little bit of research I have found a couple of older vehicles and a couple of newer vehicles. One is a roller Inferno 7.5 and the other is a deal for 2 Infernos that are fully working and claimed to be properly broken in. After reading the "proper" way to break it in I have my doubts but anyway the older vehicles I found are two associated rc 10gt that probably need a little tlc but they are pretty cheap and I could finish/fix everything relatively cheaply I suppose. However I did find that the kits that change the gt to the gt2 frame that's stiffer is no longer offered....but once again ebay found me a couple of frames that are gt2. I have posted the links just to see some more experienced opinions. Let me know what you think and I only have a couple of days to really get these or get off the pot and wait. Thanks for the input. Also if you have tips on buying used or some models that I should take a good look at I would appreciate that as well.

Out of those choices, I'd find out which is the nicest Inferno. Buying used, especially nitro, is touchy. Unless your expecting to buy a new engine if the one you receive doesn't do what you want. Are you dead-set on a nitro buggy? What's your options? Let's see if we can get you into something new or close to it.:)

If you're looking at a short course truck like the SC8, have you looked at the Traxxas 1/16 Slash VXL? it has a brushless setup and is ready to run. It's also 4wd which does help with handling and is insanely fast. You can find them new for under $300.

I wouldent buy seccond hand unless youve seen the thing run cos of engine breakin not being done etc
i did and i paid
100 quid infact on top of the mony for the car

be carefull about buying used and old cars. i just got into this myself and bought a hpi rush evo which is a older truck. ebay has some of the parts for this truck but not all of them. i have to order off the hpi website and they only ship 4 days a week on top of having to wait 3 to 5 days for them to clear my credit card. i got this truck the 10th and so far its done more sitting then driving. also ended up spending more money then planned on ordering parts and running to the hoddy store to pickup what parts they had on hand.

Honestly I don't mind buying a roller. There's a hobby shop near me that I could pick up just about any inferno part I could dream of.....stock or otherwise. It's run by a nice little Japanese mama-san (grandma) and since Kyosho is Japanese it's the brand that I am strongly looking at. The one thing I am set on is nitro....I've driven electric cars and I agree that they are easy to run and easy to clean but I actually enjoy working on engines and such. I've helped a friend of mine clean up a nitro rc on several occasions and adjust things and I really enjoy that just about as much as driving it (although it can get tedious if you run a couple tanks that day). I would love to be able to pick up a new inferno or sc8 but the way I figure the hobby goes is kinda like having a motorcycle. You don't buy brand new in the beginning because you are definitely going to screw it up in the beginning.....so you buy a used/older vehicle to learn on and then you go and get new once you're more experienced. I can get engines and everything just down the street as well as most of the parts. If not the lady can get parts in about a day from Hiroshima. It's hard to find hobby shops when everything is in kanji lol. Cost is not a big factor for me personally but it is for my wife....:( From what I gather from your opinions though buying a nitro roller (no engine) might be smarter than buying one with an engine in it. Do they have kits without engines to go with them? I also have no problems with buying a little at a time and eventually being able to race. I just figure that buying the whole deal all at once is easier since I don't know much about the hobby.

The other thing that I am probably screwing up is I don't know where to shop online. If there is a great place that you know online I would be very interested in the link.
