Here's one. I'm deathly afraid I already know the answer but I wanna see what you guys think.

I'm out bashing...and I hit the brakes fairly firm to stop...or flip around and go the other direction...and I hear a ..(click click click click) in quick succession. I looked at the brake disc and the hex hub around it and the brake disc doesn't really show any signs of stripping.

Could this really be what I think it is?... :puke:

I don't know what it is, but it happens to my diffs. if you put too much strain on them, atleast for mine, they click. check your diffs.

I've destroyed the diffs in my RC18T twice like that. sounds exactly the same. All i did to fix it was replace the main outter gear on it.

Yeah, I have never took out a front diff by breaking, but I have heard that it happens. I have alum. diffs so that must be the ticket, however, I would think you took out the spiders. Does it only have 2WD now?? if your diff is done it will only have 2WD.

It is without a doubt your ring and pinion. Probably missing a few teeth on the ring gear. Change it before you destroy anything else in the drive train. The clicking you hear is the ring and pinion binding due to the missing teeth. If you wait too long you may end up having to change pinion bearings.

yea I'm going to have to go with rolex and parput on this one do as parput said and that should do the job if not then check the diff

I'm gonna disagree with everyone and say your muffler bearing might be getting ready to seize up on you.

Well... not to disagree with everyone here as it could be your diff, but also check your center axle cups. The front one takes a heck of a beating and gets notches wore in it pretty quick. As the truck rolls, those notches catch the dogbone ears and hang up, which can also cause a nasty clicking sound.

The front center cup went out on me most frequently when I had a savage. It would notch so bad that it would snap the front center axle if I didn't keep an eye on it.

Thats exactly what my RC18T is doing at the moment, I'm just too lazy to fix it.

Well its not clicking under power...or while it's rolling...just when the brakes are applied. Stumps me.

If I pick up the front end and turn both front wheels the same way...but leave the back ones on the ground...it will click. Granted it takes some force...but I'm not wrenching on it. Just putting some force on it.

Maybe a ring gear that's almost ready to strip completely?

Take it apart and look!:surrender
