RC Driving Style
just got my t-maxx back from the lhs today. they could not figure out what is causing my problems either. they said it was running really hot. so i ran it for a few minutes took a temp reading and whoa. it was around 310. i shut it off right away. i checked the needles hsn is at 4 turns out, lsn is flush. my friends temp gauge said the same. as mine did on his, so i know the temps gauges are right. his revo is running around 250 or so. i dont know what to check now. I'm thinking about taking everythig apart and cleaning the carb and motor. some advice would be helpful.

maby blockage in the carb not letting fuel in.. maby fuel with not enough lube.. clean out carb and motor really good and try new gas.. replace fuel lines?? that all i can think of..

Do the temps go down if you richen the LSN? How about the HSN?

How about at idle a couple of minutes after first starting it? Your temps are telling you something is wrong, but the cure is to know what happens when you try to change the settings and how the temps are affected.

i never ran it after that... i didnt want to make things worse...there is still a trail of blue smoke during acceleration and high speed. when i first get it started, only after a bout 5 minutes of running then it starts to bog. temps were high. around 190. let it cool. second try was when the temps really jumped up. thats when i quit.

yeah i guess thats my last option, I'm just gonna take it apart and try and figure it out. sux cuz I'm still waiting on my a-arms for the revo. oh well i got all weekend to fix everything. but i know how my luck goes, once i get everything back together, it will rain lol thanks for the help guys.

If ti is smoky while cold and leaves a good trail through all the throttle ranges, but then bogs when warmed up, I think you either have a nasty airleak or you are too lean. Depending on where in the throttle range you are boggy, it could be either needle. Turn them both out a bit at a time until your motor splutters when on the throttle, then work them slowly back in. Most likely the LSN is too lean, which also explains how it could be an air leak as well.

Ok I would take the engine off and seal the Backplate then the carb. While the carb is off and flush it out well. It has been know for something to gum it up causing the lean setting. I know.. I had that problem. If you are combfortable and able, you can take the carb apart and clean the whole assembly and maybe even replace the o-rings. Then re-assemble and seal it with RTV like the back plate.

yep. that sounds almost exactly what its doing. the punch is there on the low end but does start to bog after awhile.

I would defnintely check the LSN then before doing what I just posted.

Like jon2, Sounds like your LSN is way too lean. Explains the heat. Move it out 1/8 turn, start the motor and runs 2-3 passes by you. If getting good acceleration, smoke and temps are in 250 range, leave it. If not, while running, richen it some more 1/8th at a time until you get all three of the above. If it starts to get blubbery, then lean it back in 1/16th turn.

I had my Tmaxx get real hot and quit, and I couldn't accout for what caused it. Finally the rear diff went, and I found a bearing that had gone bad. It put an extra load on the engine causing the overheating.
Just to be sure, start it and let it idle till the temp holds. If it doesn't go above 210 or so, the LSN is good. Then start to drive it and watch the temps. That's when you want to adjust the HSN. If it's running rich, and it's still overheating, something is binding in the drive train.
