OK Guys, I am a newb, I have done some searches on this but just can't seam to find the answer.

I have a z Car and have noticed that there is no gas moving down the Fuel line to the carb. I took the line off at the pipe and blew through the tank and it pushed fuel down the line with no apparant leaks, In fact this is new fuel line.

Any recomendations?

OH BTW THis is a new car with only one tank through it

Well, blowing through the pressure line that attaches to the exhaust is a normal priming procedure. If you cover the exhaust stinger, and crank the engine over, fuel should flow through the line and into the carb. If it doesn't, there's a leak somewhere. Check the easy to access places first. Header, pipe coupler and tank cap. If these are all attached properly, and you still can't get the engine to prime correctly, post back and we'll take it from there. We'll get ya going.:)

Thanks Matt, I'll give it a shot in a few minutes and post back to let you know. I appreciate the help

OK, Just checked all connections and put more new fuel line, still doesn't seem to be moving fuel down the line.....however when I prime the carb it fires right up, when I lean it on it's side the exhaust dumps tons of fuel/oil.

Does any one know the right place to start with a SH 21 -P3 on HSN and LSN?

Thanks in advance for reading and responding

Every engine needs to be primed. Sometimes a fast enough electric starter will spin the engine fast enough to build enough pressure, but that's unusual. Somebody will chime in with your settings. In the mean time, the search function may help you. Sounds like your tuned rich if fuel is building up in the exhaust(which is normal for a new engine). If the engine starts and stays running long enough to warm up, you can continue the break in process. Sounds like you may need to lean it out a little. Get your temps up to the 200-220 for a proper break in. Just don't lean the engine too much aiming for these temps.

Thanks Matt, appeciate it. I am trying to find the factory settings on the PT21-P3 motor but am having some trouble.

Will hopefully kill this gremlin today so I can run it

It's going to run rich if it's new and you are breaking it in, and you will have raw fuel everywhere when you're done ;-) Raw fuel in the pipe is not uncommon at factory settings, but you may have just flooded it while trying to start it is all.

A good starting point with a new engine is exactly as it came out of the box. Pre-heat the engine with a blow dryer or heat gun...and once it starts you want to set it to a medium high idle and let some heat build up. Get it to 200-220ish and just let it run....and follow whatever break in method you will be using.

if you are unsure what break in method to use, you can either follow the instruction manual, or do the typical heat cycle method (Google for it). There are 4 bazillion methods out there for engine break in...find one that you like and run with it ;-)

Thanks Moto, am still having a fuel issue that I can't seem to locate. If I put Fuel in the Car it runs like a champ but I can't seem to get the Carb to draw fuel from the tank. I have put new line on and still same problem, anyone have any other ideas / areas I can ccheck. Looking for anything....

You may have an air leak somewhere deeper than. Look under and behind the clutch for excessive fuel build up. This is a sign of a leaking bearing. It may be best at this point to do a complete seal job on the engine. Read the tuning tips and tricks at the top of this forum. It explains sealing in detail. You may wanna check the tank for leaks real quick first. Take the line off of the carb, plug it with your finger, and blow into the line that attaches to the exhaust pipe. Your leak would occur around the tank cap most likely.

Try pushing down on your fuel cap. Could be a bad seal there....or you have an air leak somewhere between the tank and the carb...or the pipe and the tank causing it to not pressurize like it should.

If you pull the pressure line off the pipe and blow into it...does fuel make it to the carb?
