What??

Adding more fuel will just lean out the only source of lubrication and cause a meltdown faster

The fuel is the carrier for the oil in RC engines. More fuel will make the mixture rich and have more oil at the same time. You have it backwards.

What I am saying, is that the original mix of oil and fuel, no matter how fast you can cram it in is lean to begin with, Once you fire the nitrous off the rpm's will spike unnaturally causing the fuel to burn hotter and faster, even though the engine will also be pulling in more oil, the engine is now working at a higher tolerance so what would be a adiquate amount of oil under natural aspirated power, becomes inadiquate. Extra lube, at the right time.

The oil in the extra fuel will only compensate for the extra fuel and not the nitrous. ...if I am reading correctly.

Then what you are saying is what I was trying to say. More oil at the nitrous burn stage and not more fuel with oil in it. ?

OK.....Well build it so we can see how it'll really work.....

LOL I would if I had a minute! I have so much on my plate right now that taking on anymore projects would be impossible.

Right now for me (until I can score some cheep/free engines) the idea is just going to be too cost prohibitive to put into reality. One thing I am sure of is it can be done. Jag got it going on right now, it's not totally perfect but it works.

try it that would be sweet!!!!!! they actually sell nitris kits i think for these engines but i can't remember where i saw them.

With my track record. I just found a cracked motor mount hiding away from the last curb incident. Another $20!

Hello everybody,

I have a working nitrous oxide injection unit. I have been experimenting with it for almost a year now. After some minor design flaws I now have a complete working system. I have delt with the fuel issue, have delt with regulating the nitrous. I ran it in an M16 for about 8 months and 7 gallons of fuel. What finally actually did the engine in was flipping my Maxx in some mud and well the filter kind of popped off and sucked a bunch of mud. Anyway I am going to be playing with the nitrous on my Hyper .21 powered 4 Tec Pro as well as my Hyper .21 T maxx. Should be fun!!!

Got any pics, vids, diagrams? Are you using the Nitrous cartridges for whipped cream? Are you leaned out before you add the nitrous? Are you involved with Jag RC? What kind of performance increase are you seeing? Down sides? How long did it take from the concept stage to a working prototype? Have you destroyed any motors in development besides the one you flipped? How are your temps? How long are your cartridges lasting? Are you having any problems with frost, cold air or moistuer in your engine from the expanding gasses? Feel free to add any info you think I might find interesting. If you don't want to make a general post answering this stuff you could also e-mail me: [email protected]

Before you reply, I have no commercial interest in this experiment, It's purely a personal persuit.

In advance...Thanks!

I am actually the co founder of JAG RC, we have videos on our site. We don't have spacific pictures yet but we are getting closer to a point where we can present them. It took us almost a year to get from an idea to a actualy working unit. The engine is tuned as you would normally run it before the nitrous is injected. We are seeing massive power increase, I don't have numbers to put on it yet, currently we are working on a dyno so we can do just that. As in any performance increase with an engine (Like porting it, or running hotter fuel ect...) you are going to see more engine wear, however what we are finding is it is not extreme, pretty normal actually. We have not destroyed any engines by injecting nitrous, in fact I replaced the piston and sleeve in my M16 and ran for another few months before I decided to go with my Hyper .21! We are using custom nitrous bottles, they are similar in size to the CO2 style cartiges. We are finding a bottle will last between 15 and 20 seconds which is a whole lot!!! As far as frost in the engine we have not had issues with that at all, we did initially have an issue with freezing our valve system shut though. We have since worked that out. We are moving along at a good rate right now, things are looking good. But we are still in our test phase. We are sending out test units soon, just to make sure everything functions with others as it does with us. Also we would like to get some outside reviews.

(as Mr. Burns would say)

Excelent!

Sound like you guys have made leaps and bounds in the last year. Congrats on the running prototype. I'll be checking your site for new vids again soon. In the meantime, do you guys have any idea on costs? Your cost, development costs and hours and/or estimated retail cost? Could be alot of demand for a product like that. I'm working on a new product for the T/E Maxx right now (not nitrous) that I have commercial aspirations for, so... right now my nitrous experiments are limited to diagrams and theory. I have been concentrating my energy elsewhere and I'll have to get back to it later.

Keep on Truckin!

P.S. Who are you shipping test units to?

We have certainly come a long ways from our first prototype!!! It has been a lot of fun and a whole lot of hard work!!! We have not yet figured/released any pricing information but we plan to soon! Our test units are being sent to a number of people all over the united states!

go to www.jagrc.com he got some vids of his truck with nitrous and will sell you the kit. personally i wouldnt try it, espeacially on a traxxas motor. They arent ment for the kind of rpms that u will get out of it with nos. if u do decide to buy the kit, u got BALLS, or alot of money.:naughty:

If you would read the thread, you would see that www.jagrc.com IS Maxheadroom. I will stress it again. Read the whole thread before posting.
