Yea this week I'll be ordering a motor and esc, for now I could probably run my slash 2s lipo. It's a 5000 40c 2s lipo.

Alright. i need some upgrades. For the first one, i want some new shocks. I probably am going to be getting a whole lot of stuff from rc4wd because there stuff is high quality, and they have good prices. Anybody have any ideas about these:

Good for looks but not really a good flexing shock.

Are you keeping this a "toyota"? If so, then theres nothing wrong with shocks like it has on it, since if it were in real life an offroad tocoma setup, it would probably have a straight axle in front swap and be 3 or 4 links with shocks like those.

One thing to remember about rc4wd is, they might ship the next day, they might ship in a month. They are VERY bad about it. Id check rpphobby.com first and see what they have in stock. They usually carry the same products but ship same or next day.

That shock by RC4WD is a real stiff shock, usually combined with leaf springs to help articulation, the G-Made series shocks are popular as with the Pro-Line Powerstrokes. Would not go above 95mm though or you will get way too much flex and make your top heavyness even more unstable

Alright thanks guys, I'm gonna keep looking around and find something else I like. I was reading on another forum that a guy had a 128mm shocks all around but with short springs so he got an insane amount of droop but his ride height stayed the same because the spring was short. Is this setup good or bad?

Honestly I have never seen "droop" on a scaler, your average Shafty (shaft driven) crawler does exceptionally well with droop installed, makes your COG super low (Center of Gravity).

Heres my old AX10 With a comp chassis and droop springs.

Nah man I dont mind the pictures, I'm taking all of your guys information as it helping me learn. I really dont know too much about these things, just started getting into them recently after seeing them on the internet. Alright well for some reason I haven't even been able to run this yet, been too busy and its just been sitting here in my room. I have a question though because I wanna get this thing running today. For some reason it doesn't roll, its like the wheels or brakes are locked on it. Do you think when I plug in my tx/rx it will unlock some sort of "brake" and let the truck roll?

Can you turn the wheels or the spur gear with no power going to it? The drag brake should not engage unless you have the rig completely powered up with the TX/RX on. Other wise it sounds like you have gears that are locked up.

I can turn the spur gear with my hand and it spins the wheels but when I try to spin the wheels they don't spin. This has been like this when i received it back in september I just haven't had time to mess around with it.

They're geared really low, but you should be able to turn thd wheels with a little effort, specially if you can turn the spur and get the wheels to turn, could just be motor drag. Try pulling the pinion away from the spur and see if its is easier to turn the wheels.

I think you found my problem, the wheels do spin with a little effort, but taking a closer look at the pinion/spur mesh it is VERY tight. I am going to loosen it up a bit and see how that works. One last question for now though, is a 5000 2s 40c lipo too much for this truck? Thats the only 2s lipo I have right now that I use to race in my slash 4x4 but I want to get a new one. Any suggestions?

That will be fine for now, I don't remember what esc your running but most of use run smaller 3-4 cell lipos, www.hobbypartz.com has some nice gensacearespammers 25c 1000 mah 3s packs for around $10 each that can be mounted on the front axle for better weight distribution. You should look through my build thread for my AX10, lots of good information in there.

Disregard what I said about the smaller batteries, the pick of the shafty comp rig through me off, lol. hobbypartz does however have plenty of good deals on other batteries, they have a 5000mah 3s that I want, I might even go 4s.

Yea I think I may order one of those soon, I also want to get a new motor and esc. I definitely want a waterproof holmes hobby esc not sure which battery or motor at the moment though, Ill find something.

My friend runs a 35t on a 4s lipo and it has both great low speed control and enough wheel speed to do doughnuts. I am running a integy 35t in mine, there motors are about all that's worth the money, LOL!!!

I think I might get this battery for my scaler.
