is there a way to rebuild an evo2 .12?

i've taken it apart. blew the piston. just wondering if this is taking up space, or if this is fixable.

If the block isn't cracked, you can sometimes replace the piston and sleeve in most other engines.

for my follow up....which piston will work, and when I turn the shaft it seems I may need bearings as its stiff and feels like its catching on something broke.

is there a break down of this engine? when I look it up online all I can finds that it was almost $300, and they don't make it anymore.

my apologies if I'm just some dumb noob. I just enjoy playin with these cars/trucks.

I can see why everyone and their moms trying to get me to convert to brushless. lol.

look up nirto rc engine brake down on youtube all the motors come apart pretty much the same way

If he does it himself he can actually save a few bucks, depending on what parts he uses...for instance he already has it apart he can look for some ceramic bearings, maybe he'll even find a set of buku crank case caps that will fit!

The only thing that he has to buy stock are the internals that have to do with the combustion process....which can get harder to find the longer he waits to rebuild. I always thought you can rebuild as long as your crank case doesn't have any cracks or holes in it

i'm just trying to save a few bucks and bring this engine back up to speed again.

but which sleeve and piston will work considering the engines original manufacturers don't make 'em? and I don't know a thing about these engines. all I knows the sleeves warped, the pistons intact but the arms cracked where it holds onto i'm assumings the crank shaft? when I turn that it goes freely to a point. then I can get it turned all the way once I put a little effort into it

basically, where do I get the parts A. and B. what all do I need?

if it ends up costing an arm and leg, lets say over $100, then eff it i'll scrap it and use it as a boom end, :\.

Your going to need the OEM sleeve/piston/conrod combo, I would check ebay!......there are tunnels carved in you crank case they work with that OEM sleeve/piston/combo
Maybe you'd be able to get the original set re-pinched.....I'm not sure about this process.

Sorry to say bud but you easily spend more than 100 just on the right tools for the job.

Like my Hudy bearing remover/installer, also a clutch puller, decent set of drivers/hex

At least you get an opinion that doesn't matter, I always get "your wrong.....or I see where your coming from but you still wrong"....
