I was looking into getting a nitro off road truck/car. I was just wondering what would be the best for a first time buyer? I want something that has some speed to it also. If anyone has a old one to sell feel free to contact me @ [email protected]. Wouldn't mind one that needed to be put together if could provide me with a manual also. Thanks. Any feed back would be helpful.

Don't know of any place I could find a good used one to start out with do you?

For a beginner there are two nitro trucks that I would recommend. The first is the Traxxas Revo because of its handling and the ease to find replacement parts. The second is the HPI Savage XL just because of the toughness. Personally I would recommend the Revo. I would not recommend a used nitro rig for a beginner.

i forgot about those trucks they are also both good trucks but for 2nd hand try ebay and filter it to be used or... gumtree i think they are all around the world but i know for sure that they do the uk and australia

hamz9561 does have a point thought about used and i got the same advice from my uncle when i started with nitro car 1. becuase its good to learn how to brake in and also becuase of how worn some could be and parts need replacing.

Going to have to save up awhile to get one of them. They are expensive. Thanks for all the tips.

yes mainly those trucks are around the value of $700 but... if you would consider hsp tryannosaurus or a hsp warhead both of these are around the value of $200 new i have a hsp tryannosaurus and for the money there good value and they look nice too you can find them on ebay with free shipping but i hope i have helped :)

Finding parts for the HSP Trucks is kind of difficult. Keep in mind that you will break things on trucks and the major brands such as Associated, HPI, Losi and Traxxas all have fairly easy to find parts. Also remember that you get what you pay for and that a lot of times when you figure in the price of all of the replacement parts for the lesser known brands you will have more than paid for the more "expensive' brands. Also remember that the more popular brands also have more people using them and usually get help a lot quicker.

yea possibly i have gone through only 1 gallon with my hsp nothing broken yet and eveything looks strong but i kept website links to part that i might need and they are not to cheap plus it only has a 3.0 so it only does around 70kph so not much speed :/

Check out the Losi Ten T. Awesome nitro truggy. Excellent Spektrum DX3S radio with telemetry and the R.O.S.S. electric starting system. Great handling and very fast. Top Losi quality throughout. I love mine.

I love mine and the telemetry is great for getting back in run temps and rx battery voltage.

My suggestion as always would be either an rc10gt2 or an hpi firestorm. Both are quite fast and are two wheel drive which makes repairs easier. Yeah they're around 300 bucks but you can't knock the quality of these vehicles. To get into the nitro scene so to speek you're looking at around 400 bucks to cover the vehicle, the fuel and support equipment. I can still get parts for my rc10gt eventhough it was released in the last 90's.

I looked on ebay but I couldn't seem to come up with anything real reasonable. Most of them it'd be a better deal to just get a new one. Thanks for all the help....I'll continue my quest to find one!!!!!

what about red cat racing? Do they put out a good product?

yea some times ebay can be dodgey so if your stiking with ebay look for free shipping and look at the feedback the person gets from people who have brought from you but otherwise hobbyshops are always trustworthy and another shop to add on to hamz9561 tower hobbies

Just sucks I'm in corner of Iowa no hobby shops around. I would just like to try one out to see if I like it. Which by my interest I'm assuming I will. Would just be happy with the basics no shell or whatever the correct term is. If I like it then I'd spend the money buying a new one. Have a extra if I don't crash it to let a buddy use or something.

from your post before i think red cat is alright but if your just looking to try one out to see what there like and then get a better one if you enjoy i sujjest that you dont go buying one of those trucks that are over $500 just get something cheap and isnt to hard to use like i said hsp warhead isnt too bad i think they are $180 with free shipping my mate has one and its never had any problems and its good fun but hobby stores have online shops were you can buy from the website good thing is its trusted more than ebay but the bad thing is all the cars have big prices for example the cheapst car on their with all radio gear and all might be around $300-$400 otherwise try this website there cheap and its were my mate brought his and i took 3 days to get to him http://www.rchobbyestore.com.au/?gclid=CK6I4OutkaoCFdANHAodR07Ywg

ok i live in australia and i just found out that Iowa is in america but i just reasearched that the closest hobby shop is in cedar rapids or something so I'm not sure how far drive that is but there is a few shops aparently most reliable one looks like checker flag but there are no websites :/

as normal my pals have given very good advice. but also for me the local hobbie shop you use is very important. go to where guys are bashing cars, and ask around about hobbie shops
